I was intrigued by the cover, and after reading the sample I thought it might be worthwhile. The plot was interesting and the characters came to life throughout the book. It should be noted there is an excessive amount of profanity and quite a few sex scenes as well. This didn't take away from the story at all because it was placed in appropriate passages of the book and seemed like dialogue many people would use. I believe the author did a great job considering it was his first novel and it was self-published. He used the word "that" often, and I noticed a few minor grammatical mistakes. However, they didn't interfere with the exciting plot. I often found myself turning the pages in anticipation of what would happen next. The ending was well thought out and satisfying. All in all, I thought it was a solid debut novel, which could produce an interesting new series in the suspense/crime genre.
