Book four of The Forsters

England, 1816

Miranda Cantrell is desperate to escape the confines of her overbearing guardian and return home to Cornwall. She's certainly not going to marry his ridiculous son. What she doesn't anticipate is finding herself stranded, wedged between several bales of hay in a stable, nearly freezing to death.

Relieved to have escaped the madness of London, Lord Gabriel Forster comes home for some much-needed tranquility. Inexplicably fascinated by the lovely young woman he finds on his estate, Gabe rightly assumes there's more to the story—why is her guardian so intent on seeing her married to his son? He'll take her to Cornwall himself to find out.

When they discover her childhood home has been stripped of all its valuables, Gabe uncovers more to the old house than either of them had imagined. And with Gabe's safety hanging in the balance, Miranda is prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice…

A sweet and enjoyable read, Romancing the Runaway was a lovely historical romance. I didn't love it as much as I did the previous books in this series, but I still really liked it. It was a delightful romance. Miranda was a good heroine. She was strong and determined not to let others dictate how she lived her life. She wasn't a particularly memorable character, but I liked her.  Gabe was a total sweetheart. He was the very definition of a gentleman, with his dashing chivalry and impeccable manners. And, he was also very sweet and endearing and I thought he was adorable. The romance was lovely. Miranda and Gabe were a good couple. For some reason, though, I wasn't totally feeling the romance, even though I thought they were well matched. If anything, the chemistry between them was well done, starting at a simmer and getting hotter as the book went on. Overall, I thought they were good together. The plot was well paced and I was kept interested the entire way through. There were a few points where the historical accuracy was a tad off, just a couple of things they said and a few out-of-context actions. There were some twists along the way as Miranda found out the full extent of who was after her and for what. I enjoyed the story and the ending was lovely. Romancing the Runaway was a wonderful historical romance. It wasn't perfect, but I still enjoyed reading it. Light and sweet, it was an engaging read. Romance lovers, this is a book you might want to check out. *I received a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
