Romancing the Zone by Kenna White

Liz Elliott is fast approaching forty as a successful business woman and single mother to nineteen-year-old daughter, Becca. Becca is a freshman at Ashton, Vermont’s Chilton College. She is also a rising star for the Lady Stingers basketball team, just as her mother had been twenty-years-ago. But in those early days, a a dirty little secret had collapsed Liz’s world - a secret she has kept hidden from everyone - especially her daughter.
When Liz accepts Becca’s challenge to return to college and complete her degree as well as play her last year of basketball eligibility, she is met with resistance from the new head coach. Coach Sheridan Ross has no patience for babysitting an over-the-hill athlete - not as long as she has her own plans to move up the career coaching ladder as quickly as possible. Sparks soon begin to fly.

Then Liz’s world begins to crumble when the secret from her past returns to Ashton...

We've all seen these movies about sports, right, where it inevitably comes down to the last game of the season, the final few seconds, and the game is on the line, in the hands of the most unlikely player. We've all seen those made for TV movies, where love triumphs over impossible odds. And we've even seen the two plots combined. Romancing the Zone is like that, except it's good, touching instead of sappy. This time, a time-worn plot is put in the hands of a skilled writer, and Kenna White pulls it off, an improbable upset. This author, with clear, crisp writing and deft handling of what could be (and too often has been) maudlin and trite and overdone, achieves instead a gentle tribute to the sort of story we all have hardened our hearts against. Try. You can remember how much it mattered in Little League, how you sat on the edge of the bleacher seat in a sweaty high school gym and held your breath until the ball swished through the net, and if you won't admit you occasionally got a lump in your throat on Friday night when the team accomplished an impossible victory on heart alone, then at least admit all those things became cliched for a reason, because they did move us. Maybe we're all too cool now to be moved, to find it touching when the good guys win at sports and love. Kenna White makes us forget our coolness for a while in this well-written, thoroughly engaging novel of love and basketball.

Lesbianism is a sin. God has said that several times. He also said that if you do homosexuality then you will die. Please repent and change your ways: follow God.
