From HiJinks Ink Publishing and Shannon Mayer comes ROOTBOUND (Book 5) in The USA Today Bestselling ELEMENTAL SERIES. With over 1 million books sold, Shannon Mayer proves once again she can dominate her genre right out of the gate.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:

My name is Larkspur, and I am an Elemental.

My people use the power of the earth to sustain life and defy our enemies. I am the half-breed bastard child of a king. I was not meant to survive the trials cast my way. Yet, here I stand.

The world has deteriorated in the years I was banished. The Elemental families are rife with deception, violence, and madness more than ever before.

A voice I know all too well calls me to do her bidding. A voice I no longer wish to hear. The mother goddess begs me to save the four families, and stop my nemesis. To do it, I must face each of the Elemental leaders and take from them the power they hold close: the stones I once entrusted to them.

Now, the secrets I unearth as I pursue the stones shatter everything I know about my world, and everything I was taught.

Yet, I am not the naïve girl I once was. If I am to see this through, I must completely embrace the new reality of my life and all its obstacles while forging ahead.

Four stones abused.
Four families broken.
A half-breed princess as their only hope.

Through it all, the one I love waits for me to find him. When I do, will he, like everything else in my world, not be what he once was?

"He will kill us all if he is the chosen one", well I hope that grabbed your attention because it certainly captured mine. The 5th instalment in the Larkspur elemental series does not disappoint. This book comes in from the end of the Rylee Adamson series so it may be beneficial to have read that series as well but not crucial ( I would defo recommend reading it though as it's fantastic). I was drawn into the story, fighting right alongside Lark, cheering for her and even throwing the odd punch when the excitement took over lol. The mother goddess has 1 last mission ...... Lark must visit all the families and take back the powerful gift that she once bestowed upon them, simple you might think....... But things are never really as straight forward as they seem, they know she's coming for them, sent to steal their power, take their thrones and destroy the world. A typical day really! Larks heart is torn and quickly turning hard to help her face both friend and foe, she will need to endure more upset and turmoil as the madness creeps into those around her. Will she save the day, rescue those she holds dear or will the world crumble around her victim to her lose and heartache after all she is the destroyer. If you are a fan of the Jane Yellowrock series or Mercy Thompson series I would truly recommend this book and series. A strong heroine, epic love story and a battle to end all.

Rootbound is the continuing saga of Larkspur, otherwise known as The Destroyer. This is book 5 in the elemental series and, like the other books in the series, is fantastic! If you haven't read the first books in the series, I would recommend you read them in order so different elements and characters make sense. Lark continues her journey, this time, again, prompted by the Mother Goddess otherwise known as Viv. Lark is hesitant to help, but Viv plays the cards well and lures Lark into another journey with the promise of helping find Ash. Returning are the cast of characters we have come to know and love -or detest, depending on the character. There are plenty of laughs and some real tearjerker sections too. The story is good. It's got lots of back story and crossover to the Rylee series, which I love to see. There are surprises, and some not so surprises, but everything works together to weave an epic adventure. After reading the book, I was trying to mentally put the pieces together and figure out where this is going, but, happily, I'll have to wait and see what upcoming adventures and answers await. I did receive an advanced reader copy in return for an honest review.

Disclaimer: received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I think of all The Elemental Series, Rootbound is my favorite. As usual, Mayer's plot are intricate enough to be interesting but not so complicated that they are hard to follow. With this installment, Lark's story has made it into the modern world and she must face a new challenge from old enemies. I love how dynamic Mayer's characters are, especially in Rootbound. Friends become enemies and enemies become friends. Another favorite of mine, is that there is always a small element of humor intertwined with the action and drama. It keeps things from getting too heavy and makes the characters so much more relatable and "human." I'm even more excited for the next installment than usual!

Rootbound is the 5th book in the Elemental series. The first 4 books each cover one of the four elements and their homelands. In this book we get to visit all of them again. Rootbound ties up a lot of the lose ends from the previous books while introducing a whole new storyline and sets up a new antagonist. Lark really figures out herself and who she truly loves and trusts along with finding the confidence she's needing to face these upcoming obstacles. Overall this was a fast read that has me excited too see what happens next. Received arc for honest review.

The destroyer returns.... The Elemental series has been like a jigsaw puzzle. Each book reveals a few pieces but I think Rootbound is where you finally see the bigger picture. Lark's search for Ash is sidelined by the trouble caused to each of the realms by the stones. Her task now is to retrieve all of them in exchange for information regarding Ash's whereabouts. Blackbird re-appears and the endgame has definitely begun! The next book can't get here soon enough! I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Shannon Mayer has done an amazing job with Rootbound! After 25 years of banishment to the desert, Lark seems to find trouble once again. The Mother Goddess wants Lark to retrieve the five elemental stones from each Elemental before Blackbird can get to them. However the carrier of the stones becomes crazy mad and the stones will wreak havoc on their soul. So Lark has to find a way to retrieve these stones without causing more conflict. Can Lark, Peta, Bella (Larks sister) and Flint (Bella's lover) and Shazer the Pegasus collect all the stones, and if they can who can they really trust......the Mother Goddess??? Mayer has written a wonderful series. Rootbound has friendship, love, conflict, great entertainment, deceit and great character description. This is a must read series. This was an arc copy in exchange for an honest review.

Rootbound begins where we left Lark last heading home after the war with Rylee and the demons. You really feel for Lark with the struggles she has and the journey she was already on, but more is coming because it’s Lark and that poor Elemental will not be able to just sit down and rest. Lark’s latest journey takes you on a wild ride, Lark-style, and the revelations that happen will BLOW.YOUR.MIND! I am excited for the next book in the Elemental series and to see what trouble Lark gets into!!

Somehow this series just keeps getting better and better. It really does have everything to offer. We see a lot of our favourite characters, and things are shifting rapidly in Lark's world, especially as this is the first instalment after her incarceration in the oubliette (although Lark appeared as a major character after being rescued by Rylee in Rylee's finale). All is not as it seems with the elemental seats of power and corruption is as rife as in any government in the modern world! This is a fast paced, action packed episode, much in the style we have come to know and love from Shannon Mayer. Lark is changing as much as the world around her and it is fascinating to see her growth. I will say there are some big events going on here - I mean BIG! So if you are not caught up with previous events then go do so in a hurry. Lark and her friends are fast becoming some of my favourite ever characters and I had my breath held for a lot of this book as revelations come thick and fast, and after this things will never be the same for anyone. I felt my heart break a little along with Lark as she made difficult decisions and put the world and everyone else before herself. A complete urban fantasy must read, I so love these books that I never want them to end.

if you love a book full of action, plot twists and are into urban fantasy then this is the book for you. Larkspur is set upon another mission but is heartbroken. is given hope that her hearts desire will be fulfilled if she succeeds but wait she has to get it done before her competition. Make sure to take in every detail which is not hard to do as your pulled into the story. when you get to the end it's like wow and after soaking it in you will want to read it again. I sure did.

First thing is first, you really need to follow the Elemental Series and read Rylee Adamson before starting this book. Rootbound is an intense, action packed journey. I actually had to take a break in the middle to process and finish the tale. True to the title, Lark must let go of her past to branch out into her future. I love the quote, "Either you will remain as you are, tangled in the past, or you will reach for the future with both hands.” You have to read the story universe to appreciate the twists, turns, and plans that Shannon Mayer has for this series. In this story, you will keep reading to find out if Lark goes beyond her roots and wait for the next book to continue the adventure :) Amazing story. I received an ARC for an honest review.

Rootbound picks up after the end of the Rylee Adamson novels. Lark is heading home and ready to start looking for Ash. But do things go as planned? Do they ever for Lark? This is a must read, it will leave you wanting more and begging for the next book. I know I am. Write faster Shannon! I want to know what happens next. I did receive my copy in exchange for a fair and honest review. I'll wind up buying it like I usually do though. I love Shannon's books.

I received this arc in exchange for a honest review.. What can I say umm wow, this is by far the best Lark book yet. This book starts up after Blood of the lost (Rylee Adamson series), Lark goes on a adventure for the mother goddess but is finding out not all what it seems, she also realises who her heart belongs to. There are twists and turns in this story that keeps you turning the pages.. I can't wait yet again for the next instalment..

I'm so happy I found this author. It is so easy to fall into the worlds she creates and lose yourself..didn't think I would like Larkspur as much as Rylee......but wow! Was I wrong! Such great, strong female leads. I love the equality of power amongst the characters. I love the tie in with the trackers and I can't wait to read more! Next series.....here I come!

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I love Lark and how her character grows or changes in each book. The plot thickens and Shannon Mayer keeps me guessing constantly. I can't wait to see where this story goes. I also love the tie-in with Rylee Adamson and her story.

This series just keeps getting better and better! Shannon Mayer is an incredibly gifted writer, and if you have not read her yet, I would encourage you to start on of her series - she does not disappoint! I love how Lark’s story ever intertwines with Rylee’s (Rylee AdamsonSeries also by Shannon Mayer). Two of my all time favorite heroines and to know that their stories are connected just richens the reading experience. One again Ms. Mayer delivers a story that you can’t put down and characters that become our friends. I love this series! I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, but would have gladly paid full price to get yet another part of Lark’s story. It is so totally worth it!

Once again Shannon Mayer has topped herself. Rootbound is is the next in the Elemental series and well worth the wait. She fully engages the reader and lures you in the plot. You feel a part of the story not a bystander. She has a masterful way to satisfy you and leave you wanting more at the same time. I am anxious for the next in the series. I feel Larkspur is a part of my family and I am very protective of her.

This was a continuation of the series and it was just as good as the others. There are moments where you sit and think wow I can't believe that just happened and then you want to yell at the characters. They are relatable and you feel what they feel. Love the twists and turns. Cannot wait for the next installment!

Rootbound is the best in the series so far. It takes place after the big battle in Blood of the Lost (Rylee Adamson series). You don't have to read the Rylee Adamson series to read the Elemental series, although I do recommend it if you're looking for another good read. There are some crossovers between the two series, but Shannon does a good job of summarizing what happened, so you're not lost and wondering what happened. Lark picks between Cactus and Ash, but before she can pursue her true love, the Mother Goddess sends her on another quest. In typical Lark fashion, trouble follows her as she travels to each Elemental home base. She's forced to make tough decisions, but I think she will eventually bring all the Elemental families together and unify them. As Lark embarks on her quest, her battle to control Spirit continues to get harder. She knows she will have to learn more about it and learn to control it, but the only one who can help her is Talan. And can he be trusted? For that matter can the Mother Goddess be trusted? This book is action packed and sucks you into the Elemental world. Through Shannon's world building, you can almost feel the calm of the Redwood forest, smell the ocean air, feel the suppressing heat of the volcano, and feel the cool breezes at the mountain top. I can't wait till the next installment in this series. I need to know what's going to happen and if she's going to be alright (I won't spoil the book and say which she, but OMG I'm on pins and needles).

I think I have fallen in love with Larkspur that little bit more than Rylee! That is a testament to the writing of Ms Mayer, that book 5 in a series is as good or if not better than book 1. Lark is coming into her personality and I loved it. Thank you for my early copy, it was an honour to give you my opinion, it was Fabulous!

AMAZING....Book #5 and still leaves me wanting to read more!! The main character is quickly becoming one of my all time favorite characters. (Close second to Rylee). She is independent, sassy and loyal. She tells it how it is and always does what is right. It's not easy but it is what needs to be done. Love the way Shannon brings the characters to life and leaves you feeling all the emotions as if you're right there along side of Peta and Lark. Always leaving me wanting more :) Can't wait for #6!
