This is the perfect union of mystery and modern western. Having lived in this particular area of Wyoming, I can assure you that the author has accurately portrayed the geography, the environment, and the attitudes. The ex-cop from Baltimore, Nick DeNunzio, has a lot to learn about ranching and cattle operations if he can avoid getting killed while doing it. The suspense and the mystery hang in until the very end. This book is well worth the read!
Bruce Most treats us to a fast-paced modern-day western/mystery that is spot-on in portraying the rural west and its inhabitants' resistance to outsiders mucking about in their lives. When Nick DeNunzio finds himself stranded in small town Wyoming, he is hired by the local cattlemen association to solve a rustling problem, the runs into resistance from the members of that group, the local sheriff and the pretty little woman he tries to help as he uncovers local secrets and turns up bodies. A solid read from beginning to end.
