About the Author

Smt. Prem Wati Prabhakar, editor of this work is the learned daughter of the author of this work, Mehar Singh Varma. She was born on 17 February 1941 in Nizampur village of Delhi state. She was very brilliant from the childhood. Her able father could make out the genius in her. He treated her just like a son and without taking care of the then prevalent social taboos of restraining girl-child from schooling, allowed her to study in the school. Having completed her schooling, she joined a Government School as a teacher, but she continued her further studies and earned honours degree in Hindi. She had a great interest in the devotional literature composed by devotee poets of India. She herself composed many stories, poems and one act lays reflecting the social issues. The most part of this vast literature composed by her remained unpublished till date. She retired as a Head Mistress from G.P.S. Devaru in 1999 after serving Haryana School Education Department for 35 long years. In the year 2000, she edited this rare work composed by her father and published it so that it may see the light of the day. As ill luck would have been this great unsung poetess and author left for heavenly abode on 12 June 2007 which was a great blow to the folk literature of Haryana.
