The Once Upon a Time book series is amazing. I've really loved each one until I read this particular book. It never felt that captivating to me. I was constantly wondering where the plot could be heading. I never really liked the King. The evil stepsister and stepmother were into black magic and shadow worship which isn't something I enjoy in books. The whole thing just didn't work for me. Also the worship of Greek Gods was weird for the timeframe of the story. I never read the tale this is a retelling of though so that might have been my problem.

This book was really good and had me hooked through the whole thing. I liked the greek god stuff evenn though it was confusing that they spoke French too. The book had good suspense and i liked when the characters eavesdropped on ombrine and deseire. The ending was good too because the characters really learned how to love. So many people die in this book it gets deppressing at some points.

If i had to say one word about this book it would that... It would be pointless to read it was cute and charming but it sucked.

The first half was a little slow and convoluted, but the second half really brought it home. It really goes with the rest of the series, and it was absolutely beautiful. I've never read the original fairytale, but it's kind of a mix of cinderella and swan lake in a way. You have to read it to see because it's really a beautiful story.

This is a superb example of why I find fantasy, and fairy tale retellings in particular, so compelling. Because at their best, in addition to spinning a wonderful story, they reach truth. In this instance, that truth is the nature of love---no small object! More specifically, it's about growing up and learning what it is to love...that love is a journey, not without moments of darkness and grief, and that it can and should be a healing force. So much is written and sung about love that at times it feels trite and sentimental---I feel a little that way just writing this review---but this book comes very, very close to touching, and illuminating, the strength and matchless, unflagging power with which it moves in each life, if only that life has the will to see it.

For anyone who read this book you may think it was questionable. The reality is is that this book has an air of magic to it, and though at many times you start to feel tired of the same events happening time after time, you begin to fall in love with the characters and, by the end, the book itself. It was a bit of a challenge, what, with the French language and the mythological aspect to it. I recommend this book to those who want a fascinating and different approach to fairy tales.

Imagine every bad possible thing happening to you and then falling in love. It was a good book but like it sort of dragged on with the main character becoming a deer. One thing that confused me though was that they spoke French yet worshipped Greek gods.

'The Rose Bride' is definitely one of the best in the Once Upon a Time series. It is so beautifully written and so captivating that I couldn't put it down, finishing it in almost three hours, it's that good! An enchanting romance novel with dreamy descriptions and a surprising plotline. Nancy Holder has a wonderfully vivid writing style and I can't wait to read more of her work!

The book wasn't bad nor was it mind blowing. I enjoyed the authors poetic writing style and voice in the beginning, however she then continued to write in it the entirety of the story which made action scenes.. not so actionable. It took some time to get through since I often found myself getting bored, the story was a bit drawn out and could have been cut by several chapters.

The stories within the Once Upon a Time Series tend to be well written and worth reading, but this one was a dissapointment. There are others in this series that a far worse, but this one leaves you thinking why did I read this? I would not recommend this book to anyone and frankly you will be quite bored throughout it!

I am a big fan of the Once Upon a Time series, but when I read this book it was completly dissapointing. The story made me feel like it was missing something. I was a bit bored throughout the book really. I had looked forward to getting this book, but when I read it seemed pointless to me.
