Overview

Readers who have loved Gayle Roper's first two books in the charming Amish Farm series will be delighted with the concluding book, A Rose Revealed.

Rose Martin became a nurse because she wanted to help people in pain. And she has come to realize that part of being a nurse means encountering death. But death by natural causes....not by murder. So when cancer-stricken Sophie Hostetter is murdered, Rose begins asking questions. Soon she's drawn into a maze of family secrets that endanger her own life. Her growing attraction to Amish-raised Jake Zook further complicates her life. His resentment toward her is puzzling--after all, she helped save his life. Why will he not allow her to share that life now?

Readers who love an Amish setting, mystery, and romance will be turning the pages until the satisfying conclusion.

About This Series: Prolific author Gayle Roper's popular Amish Farm series was first released before the Amish fiction genre exploded. Now reissued, the contemporary series is reaching a wide new audience among Amish-reading book buyers.

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Debby Willett
Rose Martin witnesses a horrific explosion. Why it happened has yet to be determined, but two people died and Rose's life could be at risk. She is advised not return to her home, but to find a safe place to stay. Rose is not prepared to put her life on hold while the bomber is sought. Then she realizes the house she will be staying at has an apartment owned by a very interesting Amish man named Jake Zook. Her attraction to him is complicated, yet he appears to have no response to her at all. Living with the Amish, Rose learns about the politics between families, districts, and communities. The culture is very different; a telephone is only available outside in a shed, and there is no television or newspapers. The longer Rose stays in the apartment, the more her heart yearns for Jake, but the politics of his family could permanently divide them. This third book of the "Amish Farm Trilogy" was originally published as The Decision. The main character, Rose Martin, struggles with forgiveness for herself. In the back of the book, the author addresses this issue, noting that "God doesn't ever ask us to forgive ourselves." Rather, "If we say we have to forgive ourselves, are we saying Jesus didn't do enough when He died for us?" The author makes forgiveness an issue throughout this story. It is a book for any who have committed a sin against themselves and are having difficulty letting go of that sin. Most within the Christian fellowship church of believers would say, "Forgive yourself. Do not continue to carry this bondage against yourself." Reviewer: Debby Willett

Previously published as The Decision, A Rose Revealed is a bit different type of an Amish book. It is set in Amish country and some of the characters in the story are Amish, but Rose the main character is not Amish. Rose is a visiting nurse/home health nurse, and has worked among the Amish for years, she also was raised in the same area, so she knows much about Amish tradition. When a horrifying explosion leaves Rose dazed and confused, and her patient and the patient's son dead, Rose collapses. The horror of all that she saw overwhelms her bringing back horrible memories of the death of her father and younger sister. Thankfully for Rose her breakdown takes place in the driveway of the Zook farm. The Zook's are friends of Rose and they take her in for the weekend. Rose had worked for them, when Mary Zook hurt her leg and needed a nurse. Unfortunately for Rose, she soon discovers that someone is looking for her and it is not with good intentions they want to kill her. Her apartment is bombed, killing a person, and the police let the media believe that person is Rose. Rose is instructed to go into hiding, not letting anyone know she is alive, until the police figure out who is trying to kill her. A fast paced story, with many stories woven into the main one, you will enjoy reading this book. This was the first Gayle Roper Amish story I have reviewed and I loved it!! It was my perfect story, Amish, mystery and love. You will want to read this book if those genres interest you! 255 pages US $10.99 4 stars.
