This wasn't quite what I expected it to be. I should know better than to try and figure out a book based on it's cover. Yeah, yeah scold away. In truth I was blown away by ROUGH RIDE. The characters were easy to connect to and it was both fun and heart wrenching to follow them as they worked through their road bumps. I can't wait for ROUGH PLAY and ROUGH TUMBLE become available. Right from the beginning I loved Gretchen. She's a very headstrong female and doesn't take crap from anyone. The way she messed with Lane the first time she walked through his trailer added a dose of humor that made me like her even more. In addition to running her own business and dealing with her own issues, she's loyal to her friends and will do anything to help them. Speaking of her friends, the advice they gave her in order to pursue Lane was perfect. It may have been a little over the top, but it was exactly what Gretchen needed. The interactions and conversations with her friends were a big part of the reason I kept reading. Not that Lane and Gretchen didn't have a good story, but these ladies added to the appeal. Lane is a quiet man. He's carrying what feels like the weight of the world on his shoulders. As much as he wants to be with Gretchen his duty to his family, and need to keep the peace drives a wedge between the possibility of anything truly developing for them. I felt for Lane almost from the beginning. I wanted him to have a chance at happiness, while at the same time I wanted to shake him until he came out of his misery. The brooding man was again my downfall. I'm sucker, what can I say. I hope we get to see more of Lane in future books, even though he'll be a side character. Overall this was a quick and heartwarming read. I'd recommend it.

Not the worst ever but it needs some editing. One place in the story used the wrong brothers name which had me very confused for a page.

The book is great content-wise but I was very distracted by the sever lack of editing.  There were spelling/grammatical errors on nearly every page.  I would have expected a lot more from Keri Ford.  Please have this book edited and send out the update.  It will be much more enjoyable.  As such, I'm going to continue reading the next in the series (I'm a sucker for series!) because the characters and story line really are great.
