No one in all of the previous reviews mentioned that this book is a cliffhanger! I won't be buying the next installment. The book was ok. Kind of drawn-out but I won't spend another $4.00 or $5.00 to finish the story, (providing Ms. Winters plans to conclude the story in the second book.) I already did this with another author and after three books the story still wasn't done! I felt ripped off and frustrated that I would need to keep buying more if I wanted to read to the happy ending! Also sad to see this (multiple book issue) seems to be a trend with more and more authors lately. About 350 pages. (Of actual story)

Getting real tired of authors not warning readers there is a cliffhanger at the end. It was an ok story with alot of build up and secrets and when stuff starts to get revealed.....Bam! Cliffhanger and now you have to wait until January 2016 to get the rest of the story. No thanks, I won't be finishing this series.

At first, I wasn't sure about this plot, and what reality was. As I read further, however it grabbed me like a freight train. The information was bombarding me from all sides. Even after the first part is done, I'm still wondering who the good guys are! Having read the Debt series, I am sure what I think is not what will happen. Please put me out of my misery and write faster?....

Can you say to d r a w n out. The first half of book is mostly flash backs and repeat of Kill not saying anything. The last 50 pages finally start the current issue and now a cliffhanger. I'll save my money!!

Felt like the author just kept Art from telling Cleo just to add pages. I skipped through chapters just so I didn't DNF it. Could have great but just too drawn out. Tell Cleo already and work out what needs to be worked out. Flashbacks got confusing too!! SPOILER ALERT.......CLIFFHANGER!!!! Write a whole book and quit trying to make more money off your readers!

I was about 5 pages in when I realized I had just gotten myself into. It was pretty much a mix of holy ---- this is amazing and oh my god this will ruin me, alright. This book kept me on my toes, that's for sure. It made me feel excited but anxious. I could feel my heart beating hard with every word I read. It was only about the 50% mark that I felt like I took a deep breath again. That's a good thing AND a bad thing. Bad thing because OH MY GOD WE ARE ONLY HALF WAY THROUGH- WHAT ELSE IS THERE?! The characters and the story and everything is just jaw-droppingly good. Most of my questions were answered but for every puzzle piece fixed into place, another one went missing. It was kind of emotionally exhausting, so mysterious and I fell in love with the complexity and genius of it all. I can't believe it took me so long to FINALLY read a book by Pepper Winters. I feel like I just discovered chocolate. It was amazing. Mind-effing-blowing and amazing. I don't know if my heart can survive Sin & Suffer but one thing is certain: I'm excited about it.

First of all kudos to Ms. Winters-fantastic story. Love her phenomenal mind and storytelling ability. I did get lost on the timeline though. Eight years plus fourteen would make Cleo twenty two. She would not be a vet at that age-much more schooling required. Also Art spent four years in prison but was twenty four when he got out. He went in at 17 or 18. Maybe I'm wrong but that was confusing and pulled me out of the story. Still gets a five star rating for brilliance!

An Amazing Book Florida The lies she has lived for the past eight years prove to be as twisted as her past, present and future. She is also a woman divided. She is desperate for the truth which means she must turn to the one man that might also be her greatest enemy. He is a heartless biker, retribution-deliverer and the president of Pure Corruption MC. He lives only to reap revenge on those that have wronged him. He obeys no one and accepts no rules. Now he has stolen her body and soul. She is plagued by mystery and must decide if she can fall in love with a man that refuses to face the truth. He needs to figure out if he can finally find redemption even though he is drenched in darkness and if he can forgo his quest for vengeance. This is a book that stays with you long after the last page is read. It will also have readers wanting the next book to see what will happen next. This one ends with a cliffhanger but it works very well with the story. The reader will be sucked into the story and lives of the characters as they try to figure out just what is going on. With each clue that is revealed it makes for a story that drenched in suspense. It is full of action and suspense that doesn’t stop at all. This is definitely a different story that makes for an original read. This is definitely one to check out.

Pepper Winters delivers a story filled with love, dedication , loyalty, strength, regrets, severity, corruption and a dangerous world of revenge and deceit. One mans revenge in the name of love. One mans revenge in the name of the past . Past deceit, past regrets, lost love and a future unknown. Just a path of reckoning. A means to an end. Years built up that brings Kill to that moment he has been waiting for. Ruin & Rule is a story on Payback fueled by the past , changed for the future but merited from darkness within .. It's a A hair raising , heart starting , overwhelming , yet distinctive Pepper Winters style . Not as dark as her normal stories but delivered with her trade mark writing and dark and angst fueled story. Be prepared to be gob smacked , heart broken and on the edge of your seat from the very beginning . UNPREDICTABLE, UNPUTDOWNALBE AND MEMORABLE. Pepper's writing was fluent, well written and distinctive. The story progressed with a good flow. Rolling from one chapter the next building momentum, angst between the characters and also showing us depth and definition into her characters. It's book one of the Pure Corruption series and the story doesn't end here - it will continue in Sin and Suffer

4.5 stars! Usually when I finish a book I have an idea about how I felt about it. I'm either happy, dazed, wiping away tears, or wondering why I picked the book up. I was mostly dazed when I finished read Ruin & Rule. I had and still have no idea how to rate this book so I guess I'll talk about what I do know. I do know that I was hooked to the story from the very first page. I know I read it all in one sitting and stayed up late to finish it. Pepper Winters can write. I've read 6/9 of her published books. She has this way of writing that seems like poetry. She uses words that create vivid mental images and ensnare your emotions until you're held hostage to the story being told. This book has all the prose her previous books have had. It also packed the emotional punches that I am used to experiencing. It's not unusual for me to feel and experience the rage, lust, or even peace the characters are feeling. The twists are huge and often unexpected. I was shocked by a number of them. I think because I had an idea of what was going to be the cliffhanger I wasn't as taken aback as I should have been. I know some people like to know if there is a cliffhanger. I don't because it ruins the authenticity of my response to the story. It boils down to this. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was hot, intense, and full of suspense. It was gory, gruesome, real, harsh, but still beautiful. I really liked the mystery aspect. In fact, I'd describe this book as a mystery within a mystery. I'm curious to know what it is Kill is hiding from Cleo, although that isn't the smaller or even larger mystery in question. I also have a feeling that not every one's intentions are pure, especially towards Cleo and Kill. A lot was revealed in this book about Kill and Cleo's pasts, clearing somethings, but I'm looking forward to seeing what is really going on in Sin & Suffer, the conclusion to Kill and Cleo's story.

4.5 stars- Gripping and intense: 4.5 stars--RUIN & RULE is the first installment in Pepper Winters’s adult, contemporary Pure Corruption MC series. This is twenty seven year old, President of the Pure Corruption MC Arthur ‘Kill’ Killian, and twenty two year old, veterinarian ‘Forgetful Girl’ aka Chloe’s storyline. Told from first person point of view (Chloe), with flashbacks, memories, and nightmares, as well as a final chapter from Killian’s point of view, RUIN & RULE follows a woman without a name; without a past; and without the memories that have stolen her life. Our heroine awakes to find herself bound and blindfolded, tattooed and scarred, heading to places unknown as she is about to be used as collateral in exchange for power and goods. But the first look into her captor’s eyes, finds Chloe looking at her past, and her possible future. RUIN & RULE focuses on our heroine’s need to uncover the truth about the man who is part of her soul, and their history that has led them to the present day but Killian refused to believe that the woman before him, is the same girl that was stolen from his life eight years before. Chloe, as she will come to be called, slowly begins to unravel a part of her past consumed in the knowledge that Arthur Killian knows more than he is willing to reveal. The past will collide with the present when Chloe’s fate is in the hands of a notorious motorcycle club with connections to everything she can no longer remember, and everything she wants to forget. The relationship between Killian and Chloe is dark and dangerous. Killian does not want to believe that Chloe is the woman he fell in love with years before. In his mind, she is an imposter trying to cash in on the wealth he has amassed throughout his life as the MC president but too many similarities and memories find Killian determined to protect the woman he has never stopped loving. Eight years have passed, and he has served his time for the crime he did not commit. His initial treatment of Chloe is painful and heartbreaking, but unlike some of Pepper Winter’s other series and storyline heroes, Killian is quick to realize that the pain he has caused is not worth the price of losing the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are aggressive, seductive and provocative. RUIN & RULE has an ensemble cast of characters each playing a secondary or supporting role throughout the story. What we are not aware of is the extent to which the evil has permeated the MC members, and who it is that is pushing for total power and control. Chloe will once again become collateral in an impending war between rival clubs, and a battle between father and son. Pepper Winters writes a fast paced, gripping and intense storyline about two people whose lives were destroyed by the hunger for power and greed. Their intoxicating connection is palpable; their love for one another enduring throughout the years. There are emotional highs and lows, with heartbreaking realizations and passionate apologies. RUIN & RULE is a seductive tale that will take your mind into the far corners of a world we know nothing about. The premise is dramatic and impassioned; the characters arousing and brilliant; the love affair addicting and passionate.
