About the Author

THOMAS J. MCCORMICK is Professor of Art History, Emeritus at Wheaton College. He was trained first as an art historian at Syracuse and later at Princeton where he earned his PhD. A noted scholar and author, McCormick has become a powerful and important voice in the field of art history and in particular the study of architecture. He was the 15th holder of the Frederick Lindley Morgan Chair of Architectural Design at the University of Louisville.
