This review was written by Marie for a guest review post on Ever After Book Reviews blog: 4.5 Stars To say that I wasn’t exactly thrilled that this book was an MMF story would be a gross understatement. I was really not looking forward to reading it. But, having read the first two books, I felt it would do a great disservice to the author to not at least give it a try. And……. wow. I will admit to you that I am not a huge fan of angst and jealousy. I feel that in some stories it has its place, but a lot of authors tend to overdo it, making it more of an annoyance than anything else. And with an MMF romance, I was expecting some to a large degree. I was pleasantly surprised, however, at what a tremendous job Ms. Kennedy did keeping it to a balanced medium and not letting it overwhelm the story. She created a unique situation between a woman and two men, and turned it in to something beautiful. Of course, with any erotic romance, there is a fair share of gratuitous sex, and Ruled goes above and beyond in this category. I actually found myself blushing several times! However, the eroticism that goes along with the idea of two men and a woman is present, and that, combined with the romantic tones of the story, makes the pairing of these three all the more enjoyable. I’m extremely glad that I took a chance on the story of Reese, Rylan and Sloan. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, and felt that the story between these three characters desperately needed to be told. Bravo to Ms. Kennedy for taking her readers there and for being such a tremendous writer that even the most apprehensive reader gave it a chance and couldn’t put it down. ***I read and reviewed a paperback copy of the book gifted to the blog in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

Reese is in charge of a sizeable outlaw town. She’s taken in anyone who’s needed shelter and protection and she’s worked out a way to keep the enforcers away from hunting her people. However, she hasn’t been able to keep Rylan away. Any time he has met up with Reese he’s tried as hard as he can to get between the sheets with her. Except, she ALWAYS turns him down. It doesn’t help that Sloan, her guard dog/right hand man, is always by her side. Always. Pretty soon, Rylan finds himself not only attracted to Reese but Sloan as well, and that is when things get really interesting for these three. I have been waiting for Reese and Rylan to get together, you knew it was coming, but I had no idea it would be like this. I had no clue that Sloan would be included into the mix and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Sloan has been by her side since the moment they met and he’s always had her best interest at heart. On the flip-side, he’s also been in love with her from day one. Sadly, their relationship never went past that of friendship, that is, until Rylan finally makes it into Reese’s bed. Pretty soon their friendship lines get blurred. And boy were the blurry lines steamy. I don’t know what was sexier, Reese and Rylan, Rylan and Sloan, Sloan and Reese, or Reese, Rylan, and Sloan. It’s not all about the nookie though. I mean, there’s some deep emotional stuff going on. Rylan opens up about his past, Sloan opens up about his regrets with his friend who ultimately had to be “put down” and for not seeing the signs sooner, and Reese feels the intense pressure of having so many people relying on her. However, from first glance, Reese seems like a bad-a** chick that doesn’t have feelings, Rylan seems like he takes everything as a joke, and Sloan is as emotional as a rock. I loved that we got POV’s for each of them and we got to peel back their layers. Not only was the character development on point but the action was intense. You had enforcers knocking down Reese’s town just about every time she coughed, she was going out all the time with her crew to take out enforcer posts, there was never a dull moment with this book. I was either on the edge of my seat of fanning myself off. I loved that this story not only surprised me with its outcome, but it exceeded all my expectations. Elle definitely stepped up her game with this one. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next.

Review: RULED (The Outlaws Series) by Elle Kennedy Publication Date: November 1, 2016 Genre: Romantic Suspense/ Science Fiction Reviewed by: Reading in Pajamas/ Cori Rated: 4.5 Stars I loved it! RULED is a scorching hot romantic suspense set in an apocalyptic world that kept me flipping the pages. It had not one, but two hot alpha heroes and a heroine I rooted for. The story took some twists and turns that surprised me. I couldn't choose between the two heroes and fell in love with them both. I just love this series. Elle Kennedy has a writing style that draws the reader into the story. Anytime I pick up one of her books I know I'm going to get swept up in a good story. RULED is part of Elle Kennedy's Outlaw Series, but it can be read as a standalone. It's set in apocalyptic world but I think romance readers that do not normally read this genre would still enjoy it. It's a great romance and I highly recommend it. *Review copy provided by Penguin in exchange for an honest review.

4.25 stars--RULED is the third installment in Elle Kennedy’s adult , post-apocalyptic/dystopian Outlaws erotic, romance series. This is Rylan, Reese, and Sloan’s story line. RULED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and history. NOTE: RULED contains graphic and explicit scenes of M/M/, M/F and M/F/M sexual situations and may not be suitable for all readers. SOME BACKGROUND: The OUTLAW series by Elle Kennedy focuses on the post-apocalyptic USA where the country is now divided into a number of respective territories without government control. There are various factions of bandits, enforcers, outlaws, and the people from the city. Life on the outside is hard; there are no laws, no law enforcement, and death is often the better option. Several groups of outlaws have banded together in gated communities for protection and control. Told from several third person points of view including Rylan, Reese, and Sloan RULED focuses on survival. Reese is determined to end the suffering of the people in her ‘town’ and gathers together the leaders of the outlying camps in an attempt to take down the Enforcers patrolling the area. With one woman pregnant and about to give birth, and a number of under-aged children under her care, Reese’s settlement has been targeted by the people who claim to be in charge. Meanwhile Reese battles her attraction and the emotional fall out for the two men who call to her heart-Rylan and Sloan-both strong, alpha males whose attraction to one another adds fuel to the fire that is already burning. What ensues is the building relationship between Rylan, Reese and Sloan, and dangerous battle for power and control in a war between the Enforcers and the Outlaws. RULED is a graphically, erotic story line of ménage between three people whose lives will be changed when the potential loss of one means the loss of their hearts. Sloan has been in love with Reese since the first day they met five years earlier; and Rylan’s need for his ‘fearless leader’ is compounded with his need for her second in command. The $ex scenes are intense, seductive and energetic with M/M, M/F, and M/F/M sexual situations. The world building continues to focus on survival in a post-apocalyptic world where life expectancy is short; food and supplies are scarce; and security and safety is never guaranteed. Elle Kennedy’s RULED and the OUTLAWS series is a gritty and graphic look at survival of the fittest. The premise is imaginative and clever; the characters are heartbreaking, vivacious, and heroic; the romance is real and raw.
