Overview

Rumours

In 1975, a pair of hard-living, hard-rocking British blues rockers went eye-to-eye with a pair of sensitive L.A. singer-songwriter types -- and the rockers blinked. The bluesmen were Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, whose band, Fleetwood Mac, had first recorded in 1967. The Californians were Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, a couple romantically and musically, who'd recorded an album as Buckingham Nicks. The two pairs, along with McVie's wife, Christine (a respected singer and songwriter in her own right who joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970 and then married John), teamed up and produced an album far more California sunshine rock than British blues. Following the grand success of their debut, Fleetwood Mac, the McVies broke up, as did Buckingham and Nicks, and the resulting romantic pressure-cooker -- coupled with Buckingham's flowering production talents -- produced Rumours, a tour de force that became one of the biggest-selling records ever made. "Here you go again," breathed Stevie Nicks near the start of the record, "you say you want your freedom." The emotional weariness captured in that line suffuses the album, notwithstanding the upbeat melodies and pristine, daring production. You also get Christine McVie's hit "Don't Stop" -- later a campaign theme song for Bill Clinton -- and arguably Buckingham's greatest track, a drum-driven cry at the death of love called "Go Your Own Way."

I'm a fairly new fleetwood mac fan and this is by far the best album of all. It is a very entertaining album and it doesn it have one non entertaining song. With Stevie, lindsay and Christine's voices it really mixes so many different styles of music and talent. My favorite Christine song is "songbird", my favorite stevie song is either "dreams" or "gold dust woman", and my favorite lindsay song is "never going back again". Mick Fleetwood and John Mcvie's talents can not go unseen either. This CD rocks and it is their best album to date.

When you pop in an albume of fleetwood mac(any albume) you can almost feel your mood or additude change dramatically. No matter how bad you may feel or how bored you are, this harmonious music will help you to feel better. The sound and talent of fleetwood mac will amaze you. One of my favorite members is Stevie Nicks. She has a beautiful yet dramatic voice that coomes out with intense feeling, and everything she says has meening and something everyone can relate to. Rumors, I feel, was a very eclectic and beautifully produced albume. The sounds are electrifying, and good to set the mood for any get to gether whether with family, friends, or loved ones. Every song is beatufully written and musically produced, so there is no way of missing out or having to skip any song. Each song has a different sound and meening so its not like your hearing the same thing over and over again in every song.

This cd is really good. I will say what i think of the songs Second Hand News- Not the best song but a good one with nice guitars 92/100 Dreams- This song is one of the best on the Cd, because of Stevie Nicks' vocals 100/100 Never Going Back Again- Another song with cool guitars but not as good as Dreams 95/100 Don't Stop- This is a really good song, and it's chorus is catchy 98/100 Go Your Own Way- This song is really good, and it has a mix of acoustic and electric guitars 97/100 Songbird- This song is very good, and it's only piano and guitar. 100/100 The Chain- of course a classic, one of the best on the cd 200/100 You Make Loving Fun- Excellent song, with a great chorus and nice guitarwork 200/100! I Don't Want to know and Oh Daddy- i am not really very familiar with these, but they are pretty good 95/100 Gold Dust Woman- Another excellent song, with a guitar solo at the last two minutes, this is one of the best 300/100

Rumours..... All the tracks are good. Go your own way and the chain are the best, in my opinion. One of the best, if not the, best classic rock band of all time.....

The Rumours album of Fleetwood Mac has been the most exciting one for 29 years. Although I wasn't around that time it was so famous, I listen to it and love the songs very much. This is the most outstanding album.

Rumours Rocks!!! Its no wonder why this is one of the best selling albums ever. All the songs are great, and its no wonder cause of all the great musicians, fleetwood, mcvie, mcvie, buckingham, and NICKS. They are the ultimate band of the 70s and this album deserves more than 2 reveiws....whats up with THAT! N E ways. the music on this album is great. Its one of those albums you can listen to start to finish, no track frwding reqired.

Rumours' fame has, unfortunately, overshadowed the fact that it is not Fleetwood Mac's best album. Sure, it has some good cuts on it, but it isn't so much rock as hyper-commercial pop. The first three songs are great, but ''Don't Stop'' and ''Go Your Own Way'' aren't as great as radio stations make them out to be. The best tracks are ''Dreams'', ''Never Going Back Again'', ''I Don't Want to Know'' and ''Gold Dust Woman''. It's a good starter if you don't own any Mac, but its super-slick production makes it hard to enjoy this album.

Best of the best from Fleetwood Mac. I listen to the CD over and over and over. One of my very favorite owned CD's. I also have the 33 rpm record as well.

I don´t think I know many bands that manage to write songs that mirror each other so well. It´s as if magic were present everywhere on this album and in the hearts of the musicians. It´s a very passionate album, and whats hard to believe is how they found each other and wrote songs the way they did. Three composers fused together to make one whole:Fleetwood Mac. Thats what makes this group so special and unique. As good as Lennon-McCartney, Page-Plant-Jones, but in an individual style.
