Nineteen year old Charlotte Cooper knows she’s unworthy of happily ever after. Her troubled childhood leads to her inability to trust people, and without trust, how can she ever love?
Until Andrew Wagner walks into her life.
His charm and patience make her question if love might be possible after all. Despite the intoxicating pull to him, she pushes him away, believing he won’t handle her past shadows when he sees her for who she really is. When he doesn’t bolt at the first sign of trouble, her walls come crashing down. In it’s wake, she gives him the key to her heart.
He is her forever.
However, Andrew struggles balancing the needs of family and school, and tries to be everything he wants to be for Charlotte. When he admits to a mistake, Charlotte gives him an all or nothing ultimatum, and he begs for something in the middle.
Devastated, Charlotte runs into the arms of Jack, an older man who can successfully balance what Andrew failed to do. He gives her everything... except Andrew.
Now, Charlotte must decide between the man her head tells her she needs, and the man her heart tells her she wants.

Learning to Love Please be ADVISED before reading this book it may have some valid triggers. So PLEASE if you have a prejudice viewpoint regarding child abuse, drug use, or sexual assault that you cannot set aside while reading a fictional story, then please STOP reading and find another book. It would be unreasonable & unfair to the author if you read and then rated their work poorly based on personal feelings instead of the fictional work the author has produced to tell a story. If you do decide to continue reading, HAPPY READING! I just finished reading this, man talk about a royal emotional roller coaster. This story leaves my stomach in a tangled mess and a ball of tears. Charlotte has had an extremely rough and ragged life from the day she was born. She has some tough issues and decisions to make, and as life goes, it doesn’t only effect her life. RUN AWAY CHARLOTTE tells the story of her younger years up until she’s 21. I canNOT wait to read ASK ME AGAIN to find out what happens next in her life. This is my first H.M. Shander book, but I enjoyed the flow of the writing, how the storyline and characters flowed seamlessly together without issue. This story deals with child abuse, drug use, sexual assault and those that stand beside the survivors. It’s a very strong story to read, I smiled, laughed, was frustrated as all get up, and yet I bawled my eyes out as well (good, bad and sad tears). This story could end as is, but I’m glad to read what’s to come, but I’m nervous also to see what’s next in Charlotte’s life. I received an ARC via Tasty Book Tours through Smashwords in exchange for an honest blog tour review. Due to sexual situations, this book is recommended for readers 17 and older! FAVORITE PASSAGE ~ - “I only breathe for you, because of you. I couldn’t imagine anyone else that fills me up with the love and tenderness you have for me. You make me want to be a better person.”
Run Away Charlotte: The Courting of Charlotte Cooper by H.M. Shander – 4 Stars I read this story blind – I had no idea what genre it was or that it may or may not have ended like I thought it would. Run Away Charlotte is the story of Charlotte Cooper and all the events that she has had to deal with in her life. She is a survivor of so much and only a few people REALLY know what she’s been through. Her best friend’s name is Joe and he would go to the ends of the Earth to protect her. Charlotte is one of those girls that you just want to give a really big hug to and let her know that life won’t always be this way while hoping that it’s true. She has to make life altering decisions based on other people’s feelings and while I was really cheering her on at times I also wanted to yell at her to stay away from certain people. This book really pulled at my heartstrings. The characters are well developed and the story follows along at a reasonable pace. I was unable to read this book in one sitting and was able to pick right up where I left off. This is the first book in a two book series and I am very much looking forward to seeing what comes next for Charlotte Cooper.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review' Charlotte had one heck of a life. There are only a few people who know her whole story. Her best friend Joe being one of them. She does not open up to anyone. She does not look for her happy ending because she doesn't feel that there is one for her. Then she gets a new job and meets Andrew. They become friends and she knows he wants more but she does not want to lose that friendship. Even being friends she still keeps her secrets from him. She doesn't want him tainted by her past and walking away from her. Until Something happens and he doesn't let up until she finally tells him. Their relationship goes to a whole new level after that until life gets in the way. Andrew was drawn to Charlotte from the beginning and no matter how much he tried to get her to take their relationship past friendship she wouldn't. He had to sit back as her friend and watch her go out with other guys and watch the aftermath of a horrible act against her. When he finally got her to break down her walls and let him in he was over the moon. But he was in school and school work was demanding which took a lot of his time. One summer he commits an almost unforgiveable act in Charlottes eyes. When he can't give her an answer to an important question she turns to Jack. An older man who gives her the time and attention that Andrew could not. This was an Amazing book. I gave it 4 Hearts instead of the 5+ that I really wanted to give it due to an editing issue that I could not overlook. With that aside. This book was very emotional, riveting and pretty amazing. The author took some of the most horrible situation that could happen to a young child and a woman and showed the true strength and courage that a survivor of such horrendous acts can be. I was brought to tears a few times through this book. My heart ached for the awful things that the character had gone through. I have three daughters and as I read this I had the thought that it would kill me if my children ever suffered anywhere near the pain and suffering that this character did. But I would hope that if myself or my children ever went through some of the situations that this character did that we would have half of the strength that she did. The end definitely left me wanting more and I can't wait for the next book! This book has situations involving Child Abuse and Rape and if you cannot read books with those situations then this is not the book for you. However if you can read books with those situations and look past the awful horrendous acts to look at the whole picture then I definitely recommend reading this.
