Runaway Scold by Marie Hall

Can love set things right?

The king has reaffirmed Io Brice's marriage to Lord Xavier Brice. As much as Io wills their relationship to be one of want and need rather than command and duty, she is not able to fully trust in her husband's commitment.

As Lady Charlotte, Xavier's own mother, continues to push for Io to be put out, someone else is pushing for Io's very end.?Unsure if it is her husband, his mother, or the woman set on replacing her, Io thinks her only chance to stay alive is to run.?But will she leave the dangers in the house only to find worse on the road? And will the memories of everything she left behind even allow her to go on living?

Xavier Brice has tried everything to make his wife know how he feels about her. Still he can not convince her it is neither contract nor duty which binds him to her. And with his mother's constant and vile meddling, he knows Io is losing trust in his love for her.

To make matters worse, someone has tried to murder Io and he knows she thinks it could be him behind the attempt. When Io runs, Xavier is left with only the hope he will get to her in time to prove he is the one man who will love and protect her.

When two people cannot live without each other, separation can feel like death. But when staying together could end their lives for real, will the risk outweigh the reward, or will love end in tragedy?

About the Author

Marie Hall is a romantic with an imagination and she uses those skills to both entertain and inform.

Because of her love for the written word, she spends her days (and a lot of nights too) creating characters in setting and situations the reader will hopefully love and believe in.

Writing erotica, historical and contemporary, allows her to reach a broader audience. Focusing on the complex dynamics of a dominate/submissive relationship, with love and respect as a main theme.

Marie uses her degree in history to add facts about the time periods she writes and blogs about those facts from time to time. When she is not writing or blogging she spends time with her family, her husband of more than twenty years and her adult daughter. Mostly, though, with her little four-legged fur-child, Tuck. They spend time enjoying the contrasting landscape of Western Colorado. With his high reaching, jagged and rough peaks and its soft sloping valleys it is the perfect setting to sit back and think up stories to tell.

Please take the time to enjoy a book. Books open doors in life, takes you to places or times you may never have known and lift your spirit.

Be Safe,

And as always, READ ON!

HOME AND CHOICES, TWO THINGS IO WAS SURE DIDN’T REALLY EXIST The series is one that must be read in order to grasp the situations and characters entirely because this is a saga. It is so full of emotions that at times your heart feels like it is being ripped in two by everything that Io endures. Her husband, Xavier Brice, is a warrior, but when it comes to his home, his family, his evil mother and her plotting, and worst of all, his wife, he is dense. The people in the shires love and respect Io, and she has a way of settling issues among bickering individuals that leave everyone satisfied. When it comes to home, she is treated with disdain and her husband’s family makes it a battleground. The plot is packed full of emotions, from hurt, confusion, hopelessness, strife, to depression and defeat. How many accidents will befall Io before Xavier opens his eyes to see that his wife is being targeted, and these are not so-called accidents but instead assassination attempts? How many people will have to die in neighboring towns before Xavier sees the destruction his Mother has brought about? How many lies and falsehoods before he banishes his Mother and her party? The tale has a large cast of characters, emotional dialog, heart-wrenching scenes, and life and death moments. Marie Hall has taken the readers on an emotional roller coast that must continue on to reach the platform again. Will it bring a happy ending for Io and Xavier or more strife? How many losses can one individual handle before they give up and no longer have the will to live? “Io lost hope. The one thing she’d always claimed as hers. And with the loss of hope by her, Xavier’s own faded.”

The Author did a great job of transporting me to a different era. The descriptions of the property and the people made you feel like you were in the room. I became attached to Lady Io and what she was experiencing. From her troubled childhood, to the emotions she felt dealing with her mother-in-law and the passion she felt for Xavier. I felt her frustration waiting for Xavier and her strength as she made decisions to protect herself. Her concern for those around her kept me holding my breath page after page, fighting for them and her. This was the first book I have read in the series and it kept my attention and left me wanting more.

Oh my gosh! This book was so amazing and the emotions so strong I cried through most of this book. Some of it is absolutely heartbreaking and for so many terrible things happen to one sweet lady who had already been through so much early in life, and another woman who had every advantage and is so evil I wanted to shake Xavier to make him see how him mother caused death and destruction. This book was an emotional roller coaster. I can hardly wait for the next book. Marie Hall is a gifted writer and I highly recommend this book.
