Oh my goodness, what did I just read? Almost non-stop drama and a believable, slow-burning plot kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. J.T. Cooper’s writing was excellent, very few errors as far as I could tell which is always a huge plus on my end. I hate sloppy editing! Really enjoyed the mix of the great characters (love Kinley and Brendan and Keith too) and their interesting backstories, infused with a compelling mystery fraught with danger…and the connection to the past makes it feel that much more authentic and believable. I was really impressed with J.T. Cooper’s writing style, her brisk pacing and strong word choice works well in this genre, and it seems like she’s done her homework, as the level of detailing in the artistic viewpoints was downright impressive. Definitely think she’s an author to watch for in the future, and recommend for fans of mystery and literary suspense.

4.5 stars I ’m a huge fan of suspense/mystery/literary thrillers and read them all the time. Unfortunately, after a while many of them start to feel the same, like many authors (especially new ones) are using the same recycled plot over and over again. But I like trying out new authors and thought the premise of J.T. Cooper’s novel sounded interesting --- at least not like something I’ve already read a million times before. But while I fully admit I didn’t have the highest expectations going in…well, consider me blown away! I read “Running” almost in one sitting (much to my own amazement). J.T. Cooper is a hugely is a talented writer, and I was hooked in by the way she weaved so many interesting characters and high-octane storylines together to create a wholly addicting story that I couldn’t put down until the final conclusion. It was fast-paced with clean narrative and snappy dialogue and stands out from the crowd. Also, it wasn’t predictable which I feel these books usually are. Will be checking out Ms. Cooper’s other works soon. Recommend.

I’ve read a lot of books in this arena, so this is a genre I’m fairly familiar with. Although “Running” lacks some of the extreme high-stakes and tension of others I’ve read and enjoyed, nonetheless, it was an engaging novel that held my interest and made me think… I was wondering what the connections were and how it would all tie together in the end. It is clear that J.T. Cooper knows how to write, and I actually feel like I learned something as well (opened my eyes to a side of the art world I don’t really think about, and artistic personalities).. I enjoyed the fact that the story is told from different character perspectives throughout, and even goes back in time periodically. It gives the book a ‘big’ feel, and I liked how the storylines weave together in a somewhat surprising and climactic ending. This author crafts an authentic, engrossing novel that makes it clear she has knowledge of the art world, good and bad, and of the flawed but very human characters who drive this powerful novel. Looking forward to reading more from J.T. Cooper in the future!

I knew by the 25% mark that I would really love “Running” by J.T. Cooper and it would go on my “favorites” shelf, and I was right! I admit I had no real expectations when starting it, seeing as how I’d never read the author before, and I usually favor more ‘action packed’ reads and this feels more like a literary/suspense/drama. But I was intrigued by the description and the interesting beginning… you can tell that there’s so much more going on beneath the surface with these characters, and I was not in the least bit disappointed! I was so impressed with the writing and Cooper’s level of creative detailing on almost every single aspect of the various subplots, and with the depth of the character development. I thought the plotlines were completely original, intelligent and complex, and were not predictable or cliché which was a relief. The narrative is done well, and I was impressed with the near-flawless editing – something that is really rare in ebooks. Very descriptive and crazy action, especially towards the end… literally could not stop reading. The ending gives emotional satisfaction and is rewarding, although the epilogue felt a bit long to me. Overall a memorable, well written book that takes chances in a new and creative way. Really enjoyed it and would recommend to fans of thrillers/suspense/literary fiction.
