Reviewed by Melinda Hills for Readers' Favorite Russian Phrasebook for Tourism & Winter Sports by Olga I. Kravtsova, Robert F. Powers and Marina A. Frolova is the perfect accompaniment for the Winter Olympics this winter in Sochi. This book provides basic Russian vocabulary designed for use by tourists, specifically in situations involving winter sports. The text begins with an explanation about how to use the book and is set up conveniently in alphabetical format instead of by themes or topics. This allows the user to find what they want to talk about without having to figure out in which area of the book the related words are located. Based on keywords, any phrase is also easy to find and the pronunciation guide provides great guidance for speaking. Following the alphabetical entries, handy appendices contain specific information about the alphabet, common conversions for weight, measurements, temperatures and clothing sizes. Simple grammar explanations complete the book and help the user understand some of the differences between forms of Russian words. Olga I. Kravtsova, Robert F. Powers and Marina A. Frolova have created a timely and user-friendly guide to Russian words and phrases. In a format much easier to use than most dictionaries or phrase books, the Russian Phrasebook for Tourism & Winter Sports makes it easy to find a way to express what you are thinking. Everyday expressions are translated into Russian as closely as possible without having to look up individual words and string them together. Specifically designed for tourism and winter sports, this book is quite convenient and eliminates the need to wade through extra options and terms that are not related. This is a great book for anyone heading to Russia so ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿! (Have a good trip!)
