He knows her secret.

But he'll never tell...

It would cost him a fortune.

But there's more to Colin Carter than Jean realizes.  With ulterior motives and a plot for revenge, Colin might not be the prince charming she thinks he is. And she's about to realize that sometimes the bad guy wins.

I didn't think I was going to like this book and almost gave up a little way into it, but I'm glad I stuck with it because it was a very enjoyable read.

Pretty good. It was hard for me to get into, but overall it was a good book. The ending was very rushed.

It took me a little while to get into this book. I felt with the title and the plot line then he would be more “Ruthless” in his actions. I did like the plot line since it gave me a different take on a revenge type book. I did like Jean. She worked her butt off for what she had and cared for the people around her. Then there is Colin. I love when you read a book and witness a transition of either both, or one, characters. We got that with Colin. That is what redeemed the book for me. I would recommend this book.

Ruthless is a romantic suspense/drama. Jean and Colin are likable characters. They deserved every bit of happiness they could find. I've never read a book with anything similar to the premise of Ruthless. That made for a wonderful change of pace. I never thought of Colin as a bad guy because he is upfront with Jean concerning his intentions. While he did lie to her, he always admitted what he was doing. There are enough twists and turns to keep the story interesting from beginning to end. The story is well-written and flows smoothly. I had one big problem with the story: Katherine didn't get what she deserved. It is never mentioned what happened to her but from the rest of the story, I can imagine Jean is still enabling her. I was baffled by the phone call between Jean & Robert at the end of the story. Without writing spoilers, I would have thought he was expecting her call. This is my first book by Mallory Crowe. It won't be my last. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the Fractured Farrells Series. I definitely recommend reading Ruthless. 4.5 Stars

Excellent quick read and start to a new series. The story had many twists and turns that keeps you on your toes and wanting more. I could wait to see what happens next. The characters pull you in with a great opening description of there past. The back and forth banter and romantic pull during the story made me want to keep reading late into the night. A definite must read and can't wait for the rest of the series . I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review .

Ruthless is the first book in a new series Fractured Farrells. This can be read as a standalone with a HEA but does end in a soft cliffhanger for the next book. It is a quick read so it's perfect for an afternoon sitting outside by a pool, at the beach, or curled up on the sofa. There is some violence and hot steamy sex scenes so 18+. The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that all of that info here. This book had a twist on the typical billionaire romance storyline, which I liked. But I think the character of Colin needed some more development and the ending felt too abrupt. That being said, I do want to find out more about the brothers and will continue to read the rest of the series. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great book and I was unable to put it down. I was able to finish reading it in a matter of hours. I really enjoyed how the two main characters interacted with each. The suspension in the book was amazing it had you holding on waiting to turn the page to find out what else was going to happen. I would recommend this book to anyone who liked suspension books. Cant wait to read more from this series. Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Ruthless Great Book — Romance, Mystery, Intrigue A great book that starts out with an immediate mystery between the main characters, then changes into a more complex mystery. The story keeps moving, leading to where you have to find out what the resolution will be. Always fast moving and keeps you right in the middle of the story with the story’s characters. Highly recommended! Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

*ARC received in exchange for an honest review* I like my heroes to be...well...heroic! I had a lot of trouble liking Colin because he is more of an antihero. He's trying to con a girl out of half her inheritance and lying to her about her family. He's dishonest and doesn't seem to have much of a conscience. It took me quite a while to get on board with this guy (like practically the entire book.) He comes through in the end though. Jean, I liked very much. She didn't want to be part of Colin's scheme but he arranged it so she didn't really have a choice and suddenly her life was in danger. This story would make a great movie. There's romance, sex, danger, and action. Wow! I was afraid I wasn't going to like this book when I started it but I should have known Mallory Crowe would deliver. Now I can't wait to read the next book!

Attraction, intrigue and danger... I am so happy Colin's story is here! After his boss passes, Colin found out the billionaire lied about leaving him money in his will... to get what he believes should be his, he looks for the heiress. He tracks down Jean and does all he can to convince her to help him. She does not believe she is the missing heiress, but things happen to push the issue and she reluctantly agrees to go along with Colin's plan! Attraction, intrigue and danger.... you go along a journey where two people find more than they ever thought they ever would when they let themselves open up their hearts. I enjoyed seeing how their story unfolded! I was pulled in right from the beginning and left the book with a huge smile on my face! I am really looking forward to reading more in this series in the future! *copy given in exchange for an honest review.

***4.5 Stars*** I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is book one in Mallory Crowe’s new series ‘Fractured Farrells: A Damaged Series.’ The Farrells are an extremely wealthy family with their lives and businesses based in New York City. Walter, the head of the clan, has just passed away. Colin Clark was Walter’s long time assistant who did whatever his boss requested...some legal and some not, many requiring muscle or his Glock. Walter had promised Colin a portion of his inheritance that would have set him up for life but when the will was read...he got nada. Now Colin is out to get what should have been rightfully his. Jean Hill is a strong and independent woman who’s stuck in a job that’s going nowhere fast and has given up hope of ever escaping the small town she lives in. She has a mother who’s a piece of work and gambles everything away, even trading sex for favors...or money. When she’s in a mess she runs to Jean to bail her out and shamelessly takes advantage of her kindness. Walter Farrell has an illegitimate daughter who was kept secret from his family for many years. Colin wants her cooperation as he devises a plan to help her claim the inheritance due her, paying himself half for the finders fee. What he does tell her is she’s the woman’s look-alike and keeps from her who she really is. I really enjoyed this story as I do all of Mallory Crowe’s work. I liked the fact that our hero was a guy who carried out unlawful acts for his boss because he was paid well. He was not the consummate good guy for most of the book and that added some intrigue to the story. I highly recommend this book. This is going to be another great series.

I”ve been looking forward to this book. Hero Colin Carter was a supporting character in the final book of the “Billionaire” series, now renamed, so I am referring to “Taming Rourke” (which was a really good series, BTW.) Colin was the henchman for incorrigible and unethical billionaire Walter Farrell. He cleans up Walter's messes and takes care of the unscrupulous side of things. Walter Farrell has four sons. He had promised Colin that in his will, his estate would be divided by five, with Colin getting the extra part. Well, the old man is dead now, but instead of Colin getting the fifth part, it is given to an unknown illegitimate daughter. Colin is screwed, and vows to find the “lost daughter”, and somehow make claim to what he thought was his share of the estate. That's the background, which leads us into this new series, “Fractured Farrells”. (I'm so excited about it!) Anyway, like I said ~ I was looking forward to Ruthless. Colin Carter was such a scum of the earth type of guy that I was curious how he was going to develop any redeeming qualities. Now I must admit that I fell in love with his cover picture. That is the cutest, most adorable belly button I've ever seen in my life, and for some reason, I'm totally, completely enraptured by it. But that's just a trivia point. Back to the review. Colin finds heroine, Jean Hill, in a small town in Arkansas. She's a waitress at a truck stop and lives in a nice little trailer left to her by her grandmother. (I appreciate the author not falling into the “white trash trailer park theme” here. As a trailer park resident, I know they can be very nice places, filled with nice people. Just like anywhere else, only poorer.) He shows her a picture of the four Farrell brothers, and points out to her the facial similarities. But he doesn't tell her she's the real heiress – he tells her he has things set up for a scam with the guy who analyzes the DNA tests, and it's fixed so that her DNA will say she's a Farrell. He tells her all expenses are paid for a trip to NYC, until they collect on the inheritance, and they'll split it 50%. Jean, thinking they're working a scam, agrees. A trip to NYC? She's never even been on a plane before! Things go well, although there's an increasing attraction between Colin and Jean that wasn't part of Colin's plan, until it becomes clear that someone is trying to kill Jean. Now Colin needs to protect the woman he needs alive in order to get his money, and who he's beginning to fall in love with. Plus he needs to figure out who is trying to kill her and how to put a stop to it. Things get complicated quickly and there are a lot of twists and turns in this book. Would the Farrell's be trying to kill their own sister? Who else might want her dead? It's a fast paced story that holds your interest, no cliffhanger, and a HEA (although I have a hard time imagining Colin settling down). Enjoyable and satisfying all the way through to the end! I received a free ARC of this book for an honest review.

: RUTHLESS is the first installment in Mallory Crowe’s contemporary, adult FRACTURES FARRELLS: A Damaged Billionaires romantic, suspense series focusing on the Farrell siblings. This is personal security/fixer Colin Carter, and small-town waitress Jean Hill’s story line. The FRACTURED FARRELLS is a spin off from Mallory’s BILLIONAIRES IN THE CITY series. You do not have to have read the original series to understand or comprehend the premise of the new series. Told from dual third person perspectives (Colin and Jean) RUTHLESS follows Colin Carter- a man whose previous line of work found our hero the personal security/fixer for the billionaire businessman Walter Farrell. Upon Walter’s death Colin discovered that the money promised to him throughout the years never materialized and Colin set into motion a plan to get what he thought he deserved. Enter Jean Hill, Walter’s illegitimate daughter, and Colin’s latest mark in his scheme to inherit billions from the Farrell family fund. Jean Hill has never known prosperity, love, or the man her mother claims to be her father. When Colin Carter makes Jean an offer she cannot refuse, Jean takes the first steps in discovering her true heritage, and what it is like to be on the receiving end of death threats and a gun to her head. What ensues is the building relationship between Colin and Jean, and Colin’s need to protect Jean from the people out to do her harm. The relationship between Colin and Jean begins as a business arrangement as Colin proposes a plan to get the money he believes he deserves. But everything begins to implode when Jean becomes the target of someone hoping for payment of a debt, and Colin finds himself protecting the woman with whom he will fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive without the over the top graphic, erotic sexual content. The secondary and supporting characters include Jean’s ex Mark; her troubled mother Katherine; and local ‘mafia-style’ bad boy/casino owner Eric Nasser. We are introduced to two of the Farrell siblings (Robert and Nathan) who are not surprised by the latest revelation about their father’s indiscretions and illegitimate heirs. RUTHLESS focuses on revenge and betrayal, family and secrets. The premise is intriguing; the characters are intense; the romance is challenging and hopeful. Mallory Crowe adds another exciting dimension to her billionaire series.

*** Received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review *** This is another great start to a new series by Mallory Crowe and looking forward to reading it. This story is about The family inheritance, Jean and Colin. Colin an ex-employee of the late Farell and full of revenge toward the entire Farell crew. Jean is a regular small town girl living paycheck to paycheck from her waitress job. A stranger approaches her with a deal of a lifetime which put her in many awkward predicament. The storyline flowed well and I really enjoyed the scenes between the two of them as they got more and more involved in every very intense action. I am looking forward to reading more from this great author.

What would you do when someone offers you the opportunity of a lifetime? Jean faces this choice but truthfully, thinks that it is a lie. Colin, and I am still not sure why, leads Jean to believe that she would just be a fill-in, lying to family about who she is. Colin knows the truth as he has been working for the family for years. What Colin doesn't plan on is feelings coming into play. The fast pace of this book goes right along with the fast pace of New York City where part of the book is set. That pace continues into the small town in the south where the rest of the book takes place. The contrast in the two settings but the same fast pace helps move the plot along. I am looking forward to delving into more Farrell lives in the subsequent books. I received an advance reader copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is the fourth book I have read by Mallory Crowe and I find she just gets better and better. This is a standalone book, the first in a new series (with a linking character, Colin Carter) from Mallory's previous series about the Devereaux family. Well rounded characters, suspense and romance - what's not to love? Kudos to Mallory for including an epilogue, I do like to get a glimpse of characters I feel invested in, a year or so down the line! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
