Wow! What a great beginning to a new series of stories by different authors! This is book 1 and a real page turner! Barbara Freethy does such an amazing job of writing and making her characters so real that you feel you know them. Looking forward to reading the others. A lovely Barbara Freethy romance. Great characters and storyline. Can Bailey overcome the betrayal by another man, and can they convince their families to end an age old feud! I am looking forward to reading somemore in the series from my favourite authors.

At the end of WWII four best friends who had served looked for a place to build their future... Eagles Ledge is now home to 10,000 residents and the grandsons of the founders, all still alive,, having served their time in the military are coming home to find their place in the town their grandfathers began... Loved Ryder's story and the second book is also excellent... There will be seven books by different authors but all the books will tie back to the first... Each could be a stand alone but it would be a shame to loose the entire story... Really enjoyed the first two and have the third pre-ordered...

Loved reading the story about Ryder and Bailey, which is the first in the series 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers. Barbara Freethy never fails to pull you in so that you feel like you are part of the story. Ryder and Bailey both come home to heal - one knowing they want to stay and put down roots, the other trying to decide what direction to go in. Eventually each one realizes that they need the other to help with getting something they need to reach their dreams. The more time they spend with each other, the more the chemistry ignites between them. Of course, it doesn't help that they are in opposite camps in a long standing family feud, and each family is upset that they associating with the enemy. In the end, love conquers all.

I was hooked from the first page! I thought “Ryder” was a fun story. I always like to read about people coming back home to stay. I enjoyed the family dynamics and loved how all the storylines were resolved. Barbara Freethy did a great job of setting the stage for this series. I definitely recommend this book. I’m looking forward to seeing how the other authors carry the series forward.

Absolutely loved this book! Bailey is a chef from the big city who comes home in disgrace (in her mind). Ryder is a pilot who survived being shot down and now has some great ideas....if only he can get past the feud between his grandfather and Bailey's grandfather. And perhaps Bailey and Ryder can figure out some stuff about themselves along the way! A fun read, I totally recommend it!

i loved reading Ryder and in fact, I read it all in one day. As the book that starts a series he is very good in giving us the background details about the other characters that will follow but still the story of Ryder and Bailey is the focus and the main event. I loved the relationship between the two of them. The only downside is the quick resolve of the "dilemma" in the book. It felt a bit forced in the end but all in all a great book as expected from Barbara Freethy

First book of 7 Brides & 7 Soldiers. Meet Ryder the helicoper pilot wounded who decides to return home to Eagles Ridge and begin his life anew. Meet Baily, a Gormet chief who also returns homes to Eagles Ridge to heal from emotional wounds and begin her life anew. Both have different dreams and different family backgrounds . Ryder from the prestigious Westbrook family & Bailey from the Tuckers family. When the fall in love they work together to end the 65 year old land feud begun by both their Grandfathers. Ryler needs a piece of workless land owned by Tuckers and Bailey need the old restaurant building owned by the Westbrooks. Beautiful love story with many twists and turns as they work together to achieve their dreams and end the land feud begun 65 years ago. Will they? A must read for the first book of 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers. Received advance copy for an honest review. Jan Brandy JB

Love these collaborations and that there are 6 more books to go. Eagle's Ridge sounds idyllic. A story rich in vividly imagined scenery, great characters, an old family feud, hilarious pets and sizzling romance. Small town close friendships are also evident. Perfect book to cuddle up with, along with a steaming mug of hot chocolate, a warm blanket and a roaring fireplace.

Although predictable I loved every minute of Ryder. Barbara has a way of making you feel like you are part of the story, like you are living every minute with the characters. She also makes you believe that you too can live your dreams if you just go for them

Barbara Freethy’s newest title, RYDER, kicks off a multi-author series 7 Brides for 7 Soldiers, and it’s a great start to this venture. Both Ryder Westbrook and Bailey Tucker have returned to their hometown of Eagle’s Ridge, but for different reasons. An intense attraction is the last thing they — or their families — need. But we all know that Cupid’s arrows don’t listen to logic or even what our families want. Watching Ryder and Bailey work through the painful experiences in their recent pasts and make decisions for their future is so much fun. RYDER is an easy read that sets the tone for this new series. We even get to meet Adam and Zane, Books 2 and 3 respectively, and Ford, who closes the series in Book 7. We’re done with beach-read season, but RYDER is great for cold weather escape with a fuzzy blanket.

This is a series of seven books written by seven authors. I have the pleasure of reading the first book. I enjoyed this light story very much. It is an easy entertaining read. One item I always enjoy in a book is when the characters actually talk to each other, instead of assuming an answer, then twisting the story up with silly drama. This story is straightforward and the two main characters actually talk out their problems. Good read worth the time spent.

A beautiful, sweet romance about two people who have seen the world and had past hurts, but return home to their small town to try to help end a long time family feud that has been going on for generations, and pursue their dreams and to help build the town. Ryder is former military and proves he is a devoted, loving guy that just wants his family to be happy again. Bailey is a chef that wants to start her own restaurant after being hurt by a former love. Together, they hope to prove to both of their feuding families, that love can conquer all and bring harmony back to them. I loved the wide variety of ages of all the characters and the touching, heartwarming moments. I enjoyed this story by Barbara Freethy. #1 of the 7 Brides For 7 Soldiers series, it was the perfect start to this series. We get introduced to several of the characters and learn more about the town. I’m looking forward to reading Adam’s story next.

RYDER by Barbara Freethy. New series "7 BRIDES FOR 7 SOLDIERS" Bailey, thinking she is now the laughing joke from coast to coast in the culinary world. Returns home, first day and she meets Ryder, who has a financial venture to talk over with her grandfather. Impossible with the family feud, that would be a death wish. Ryder tries his grandfather, and with the yelling, and saying it's family honor. He needs the land to bring in bigger planes, for help with his operation and business for town. Her dream of opening her own restaurant, could it be the one that's been closed. Ryder and Bailey both want something from her grandfather. How can they work together, and what about the sparks between. A great beginning to this new series. The plot, the places, keep you interested to the last page. Readers will definitely want to read this new series by Barbara Freethy. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

This is the first book in a new series by Barbara Freethy, and it's an incredible start! New relationships are hard, and trying to work through your feelings knowing your family is against you, doesn't make it any easier. Ryder and Bailey have known each other since they were kids. Their families have a long history, and unfortunately, it's not a good one. But they've decided that the family feud has lasted long enough and they want to put an end to it. Ryder needs something from Bailey's family and she agrees to help him get it. Along the way Ryder realizes his family has something that could benefit Bailey and wants to help her also. This was a beautiful story about the bonds of family and learning that sometimes in life, love can conquer all. Loved this story between Ryder and Bailey and I'm looking forward to the next in the series!!! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

As the first book in a multi-author series, Barbara Freethy's "Ryder" sets the bar high. She draws you into the story from the very intriguing beginning. Ryder Westbrook returns home to his small town after a Navy career. He helps out Bailey Tucker who has escaped the big city. I love the way Barbara Freethy reveals the secrets of the characters to each other and the readers bit by bit. This story has family drama, dilemma, rescue and romance mixed together in a five star read. Expect no less than perfection from this author.

If love is a battlefield, what is a family feud? Ryder lays the groundwork for what looks to be a smokin' series. Barbara Freethy puts her best foot forward with a little star crossed love, deep introspection and the feud of the century as a backdrop. Ryder has seen his share of combat overseas but when the battle lines are right outside his front door, it's time for an intervention. Bailey is his only hope and his greatest temptation, will he survive a sneak attack on his heart? Family and fireworks are a Freethy specialty and she delivers both with a bang.

I could tell by the first chapter that I was gonna love this book. I don't know what it is about certain authors, but I just love the way they write and their characters. This book is a perfect example of that. I liked all the characters right off the bat. Knowing that this is the first in a series of seven books makes it even better because I will get to read more about them in future books. This is a story about a soldier, Ryder, who returns home to try to make things right in his life. He grew up not close to his family, which he wants to fix. He, also, wants to end a family feud that has been going on for many years that has split the loyalties of the small town he grew up in. Along the way he meets Bailey, a member of the family his family has been feuding with. If they work together they just might be able to fix things. I don't usually like romance novels if there's no suspense in them, but I really enjoyed this book. I would highly recommend it to anyone!!!

Barbara Freethy has given us another excellent book to begin this new series. Ryder & Baileys story is an emotional story. What a sweet and tender romance about following your dreams. Bailey and Ryder have both recently faced events that have forced them to figure out what they want in life. This led them both returning to their hometown of Eagle's Ridge. The connection between them is instant and I was rooting for them from the get go. There were many instances that I was swooning over Ryder right along with Bailey. All in all, it's a light, flirty and fun read. A great start to this collaborative series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
