Wrath (Soul Savers Series #5) by Kristie Cook

New Adult Paranormal Romance by bestselling author Kristie Cook**Mature Content**Recommended for ages 16+ due to sexual situations and language.

Will a mother's wrath make her cross the line?

I didn't want to cry. For once in my life, tears evaded me. Perhaps because I refused to grieve this loss, because it wasn't a loss in my eyes, in my heart. It was a call for war, yes. But not a loss. I wouldn't allow it.

Besides, I was too mad to cry, even in my exhaustion, and anger would get me much further.

As I curled my body around Sasha's, though, I realized the anger within me had changed. I no longer felt irrational and blinding fury that dulled all other emotions. But that was okay. I really didn't want to be Psycho Alexis. This, what I now felt in every cell of my body down to the core, was better. My anger had condensed and solidified into a cold, hard stone settling within me. Something I could control and hold onto for the long term to keep me going and focused on the goal.

Wrath.

That's what I felt. And there was nothing worse than the wrath of a pissed-off mother.

Wrath, the fifth volume in the bestselling, award-winning Soul Savers Series, will have you on the edge-of-your-seat-ravenously-devouring-junk-food as you experience the mysteries, magic, betrayals, and passion that you've come to expect from Kristie Cook's writing.

O.M.G. Kristie Cook you have absolutely blown me away, out of this Universe and into the next Realm! I don't even know how to put this review into words, as I am speechless (and that rarely happens). I have trouble forming the right words, therefore I am not the best at writing reviews, so I hope this will suffice. I have been a HUGE fan ever since I read Promise (Book 1). Even back then, I thought, how could this story possibly get any better?! She just keeps proving me wrong each and every time. By the time I got through Power (Book 4), I was absolutely positive she would not be able to one-up that, and once again she showed me exactly what she could do! This book took me on the most intense emotional roller coaster I have ever experienced! It is packed with so much action, suspense, humor, mystery, love, admiration, loyalty, grief...and the list goes on and on. The story is so well thought out, imaginative, and beautifully written. Kristie is a genius storyteller, and her words flow perfectly. It will keep you on the edge of your seat all through out. Alexis has come such a long way since book one, and I am so proud of the woman she has become. She is the strongest, most powerful daughter the Amadis has ever seen, even more so than Cassandra, the first daughter. She is the epitome of bad-ass female heroines. Tristan is her second, her equal. He also is the epitome of bad-ass male hero's. Together they are a force to be reckoned with! This book is based on a mother's wrath, and as the saying goes, The most dangerous place in this world is between a mother and her child. Alexis will show you exactly what that means! By the time you get to the end of this book, you will have already gone through a turmoil of emotions, and, well, she saved the best for last! All I can say is that you will need at least a couple BOXES of tissues! Be prepared for the kind of grief that will leave you laying in the fetal position in a dark room for days! I can't even think of starting a new book right now because my mind and my heart are with Alexis, Tristan, Dorian, and all of the Amadis. I'm hoping to recover eventually! Then to top that off, she once again leaves you hanging with one of her notorious cliffhangers! This book is most definitely of EPIC proportions!! I don't know how I will find the patience to wait for book 6, but I know I'm ready right now!! I won't even challenge you to one-up this one, because as impossible as it seems, I know you will show me up again!

Just finished reading Wrath and frustrated at how weak Alexis is. And she spends the entire book crying over her kidnapped son and then at the end the author doesnt even talk about him. Come on! And Alexis acts like a air head when it comes to strategically planning. She wines and gets her ass kicked all through the book. Im so dissapointed.

My review: I have always admired Kristie's writing style and Wrath was truly well written. It touches you emotionally in so many levels that while reading and after you finish the book you keep wondering about the talent of the author. I have written previously, that Kristie's writing is an art and Wrath is another proof of that. Plot: Wrath picks up exactly where the 4th book is ending. Dorian is gone and Alexis is left with nothing more and nothing less than wrath. She storms to find and kill the responsible for Dorian's disappearance, but the task in hand is not as easy as it seems. The Amadis politics plays a role and Alexis and Tristan need to slow down and create a strategy for finding Dorian and also satisfying the needs of the Amadis. The plot is filled with surprises and there were things which I definitely did not see coming. Wrath is amazingly written and it gives the reader quite raw emotional journey. You will see both Alexis and Tristan losing it and trying to pick up the pieces and not losing the perspective. You will see already known characters showing up and also meet new ones you would like to know more about. You will see the Amadis changing into a whole new playground. Wrath is taking the fight between good and evil into a unknown territory and that is what I loved about the book! One of the things which I need to mention, is the title of the book. Wrath is a brilliant title for the story, because it deals with the wrath of the mother whose child is taking away from her. Hell hath no fury... Characters: I have to admit, that I struggled with Alexis in the first third of the book. I did not like her very much because she acted irrationally, selfishly and without thinking. She reacted rather than acted and I had a problem with that. I did understand where she was coming from. It must be the hardest thing to a mother to deal with the fact that your kid has been kidnapped. And not only kidnapped, but kidnapped through the hardest betrayals. I'd do anything to protect my kid, but what Alexis did not do and which annoyed me, was to THINK what to do BEFORE doing it. She put her friends into situations which were so wrong and she did not see how the whole situation affected Tristan. With that said, it did change though, both from my side as a reader and from Alexis' side as a character and I got back the Alexis I have loved from the book one. She grew as a character, as a wife, as a mother, as a daughter and as a friend. What I loved about Alexis and what was also said by Lucas towards the end of the book, that Alexis combines the Amadis' blood of good and Lucas' blood of evil into a powerful person. Alexis will be a great leader; she is already one. What I missed in Alexis in the beginning of Wrath, I got loads from Tristan instead. I loved how Tristan was the only person capable of bringing Alexis back from where ever she was in her wrath. I adored him for that and I felt for him when he got angry with Alexis. I felt both of their pain like it was touching me personally. I was happy when Tristan forced Alexis to see, that she is not the only one suffering. When Alexis was the raw wrath in this book, then Tristan was her balance, support and brains. Loved it!

With as much as I loved book 4, I was disappointed by how much I didn't love Wrath. Although it wasn't completely unenjoyable, the story seemed to drag and I felt like smacking Alexis up side her head more than once as I read the book. I was really hoping she'd gain a bit more self control and grow out of her selfish, immature impulses by now, even with everything she's been through, but I guess not - it gets tiring to read. I'm really glad that this isn't the end of the series. I hope the 2 remaining books make up for this less-than-stellar work of Kristie Cook's. There wasn't much in the sense of peaks and valleys of emotions with Wrath, the plot seemed like it could have been condensed and even added to the end of book 4, and there really wasn't much character development to get too excited about. The plot does pick up towards the end, but the conclusion felt rushed to me. I could only give it 3 stars (if there was 2.5 stars, I would have picked that) which is really unfortunately because it's been such a great series up until Wrath.

I have fallen in love with this Authors writing.  To say I loved this book and the whole series for that matter would be an under statement.  Ever since I read her first book in this series, 'Promise' I have been on the edge of my seat.  I was captivated.  She has a way with her writing of pulling you in.  The characters I just LOVE especially Alexis and Tristan.  There is so much excitement and adventure and  just enough romance without it being too mushy.  Every time I would end a book I would have to purchase the next one.  I was hooked.  In fact after the second book I had to purchase the entire series.  This is the first time I have read  Kristie Cooks book and now I am definitely a huge fan.  Kristie is an amazing story teller and I can hardly wait to read the sixth book in this series which I don't believe is out yet but I will be anxiously waiting for it.  WTG Kristie, you are amazing.  Thank you for taking me away from my stressful life so I could escape from reality for a while and read Alexis and Tristan's Journey.  Extremely well written.  I will also be looking out for more books by this author and she will fall under my categories  of Best Authors.  Everybody needs to buy this.  You won't be disappointed although it is meant for Mature Adults.
