They find in each other a love they can risk everything for. An encounter in the Cornerstone Community Church changes the way they understand God, themselves, and the mystery of love. Michelle Bolanger has opened a perspective in love that I have never considered and has also shown a fresh perspective on the way God looks at us. The narrative is beautiful and insightful, and the emotions of the characters, as well as their quest for meaning, emerge powerfully throughout the story. The question that comes out strongly in this story is: Can one really find true love in places that contradict their religious faith? The emotional and psychological conflict is skillfully developed and readers learn to care about the characters right off the bat. The narrative voice is equally clear in the first person, and alternating between Michael and Sam creates suspense which maintains the attention of the reader while allowing them to follow the strongly written points of view. Safe Cages: A Challenged Faith Novel is an inspiring tale that will challenge the way we look at homosexual couples. Enlightening and engaging!
