From New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author Lisa Mondello...

When someone you once loved wants you dead, is there any SAFE HAVEN?

Finding out her ex-husband hired a hitman to kill her didn't leave Daria Carlisle all warm and fuzzy. But Detective Kevin Gordon's suggestion she flee the only home that had ever truly been hers was downright crazy. Forget that the sexy police officer made her heart pound and her blood stir. She'd worked too hard to get what little she had. She wasn't leaving.

Kevin Gordon didn't make mistakes, but he'd made a big one in letting Daria's ex slip through his fingers. Although he tried to make it very clear to Daria that the fixer upper home she considered a palace was no safe haven, she just dug in deeper and insisted on staying, leaving him no choice but to be her protector. Left on her own, she surely faced murder at an assassin's hand. But can Kevin spend every waking hour sleeping on her doorstep just to keep this stubborn woman alive without risking his heart to love?

SAFE HAVEN is book 2 of the Heroes of Providence series which began with Kirkus Reviews Best Book of 2012 MATERIAL WITNESS.

Book 2 Safe Haven, was also a good read, but book 1 was better (only my opinion). Kevin and Daria's story made a good read too don't get me wrong--I did enjoy reading this story and wasn't at all disappointed! I look forward to book 3.

The second book in Ms Mondello’s series, Heroes of Providence, is just as good as Material Witness, the first book of the series. In this one we have Detective Kevin Gordon. He is undercover as a hitman and and George Carlisle asks him to kill his ex-wife. When the arrest falls through, Kevin is determined to warn the woman, Daria Carlisle and keep her safe. She refuses to leave town, especially since she has finally found a place to call her own, even if it’s a dilapidated house. Even through all the tension ,and suspense, the attraction between Kevin and Daria cannot be denied. As they get closer, the stakes keep on rising. It is a story filled with intrigue, strong characters, suspense and romance. Can’t wait for the next book in this series. Sure to be another winner. I received this copy in exchange for an honest review. The opinions are solely my own.

Safe Haven by Lisa Mondello Heroes of Providence Series Book Two Detective Kevin Gordon was undercover and things didn't go like they expected. Their suspect, a man who wanted to hire someone to kill his ex-wife, was released. The mission had gone bad. He had to warn the ex-wife to leave town. Go into hiding. Immediately. Daria Carlisle had lived a gypsy-type childhood. Her parents never stayed in one place for long. After her divorce, she bought a house and planned on staying there. Permanently. No matter what this man was telling her, she wasn't leaving. No way would her ex want to kill her. He wasn't that type of man. It seems people aren't always who they seem to be and Daria is learning that lesson the hard way. Romance with a good dose of suspense. The reader can first meet Kevin in book one; Material Witness (Jake Santo's story) and learn more about Dylan Montgomery in book three; Reckless Hours. **Sexual content and language

Don't buy this book, it isn't worth the frustration. First, the editor appears to have been on vacation as the book is riddled with typos. Then, the text is jacked up at page 64 and suddenly is white blocked. What an annoying waste of time and money.
