Book Excerpt:
“Hey there, Jody,” he called out.
“Oh, hi….Taggart,” she said with surprise, pretending she hadn’t seen him.
“We really have to stop meeting like this.” He smiled and walked towards her down the narrow hall dotted with luggage.
She laughed nervously at the cliché that was proving all too true if she was to keep her sanity. “I guess so. Well, this is my room.” She fidgeted with her keycard as he came up beside her.
“Mine’s just down the hall.” Taggart pointed behind him, but he just stood there, his tall frame close to her. She looked up at him, overly aware of the scent of sandalwood, one of her favorites. Very masculine.
“Mmm...coincidence,” she said, the hallway becoming smaller by the minute when he flashed that boyish smile, with one corner of his mouth raised. Cocky, but undeniably sexy at the same time.
Unable to break the gaze, she tried to insert the keycard into the lock, not paying attention to what she was doing. The card grazed the slot and she forced her eyes away from his.
“I guess you didn’t find your friends after all?” he inquired, leaning casually against the wall, as she slid the keycard all the way in the lock.
Caught red handed at her own lie, she smiled down at her shoes. “No, I didn’t.”
“So you can have that drink with me after all,” he stated flatly, placing his hand over hers as she held the key in the lock.
Her heart pounded in her chest. She couldn’t move a muscle. “I don’t think that’s a good idea,” she said.
He frowned but left his hand on hers. “Because?”
Because? Her mind raced. She couldn’t tell him it was because she was afraid. Afraid how her body trembled when he was near, how her cheeks burned and her sex thrummed.
“I’ll wait,” he said with a devilish grin eyeing the keycard still in the lock.
“I really don’t think it’s a good idea, is all.”
“You already said that,” he said straight faced, but she could see the playful look in his eyes. As he removed his hand, he continued to lean easily on the doorframe, his face close to hers as if he had all the time in the world to wait for her to be ready. He was close enough she could see the barely visible laugh lines when he smiled and the slight five o clock shadow on his chiseled jaw.
“Look Taggart,” she said, just saying his name made her heart beat faster. “I’m not ready for…” her heart beat rapidly thinking about just what she wasn’t ready for what….to be intimate with a man.
“Ready for what?” he teased. A flush of desire rushed through her. He was playing with her, flirting with her.
She took her key out of the lock and looked up at him trying her best to hang on to some semblance of control. “Whatever it is, I’m not ready.”
“Fair enough,” he said, completely unarming her with his understanding.
“Really?” she asked, almost disappointed he gave in so easily.
“Really,” he said, imitating her.
He was so fucking sexy she was going to melt right there in the hall. “Well in that case, maybe I’ll have that drink with you, but it better be a quick one, the girls will wonder where I am.”
“Good

Kate Deveaux’s “Sail Away With Me” is very sexy. Let’s just say that Taggart is a *stimulating* leading man! Jody, the leading lady, has a pack of girlfriends that makes the story have a “Sex in the City” vibe to it. I like the pacing of the storyline and the depth of the characters. I usually don’t care for stories about divorced moms because they often aren’t believable, but Deveaux handles all of the details of Jody’s complicated life in realistic ways without detracting from the sexiness of the tale. Strangely, I have the desire to have some hot phone sex while I wait to see what Kate comes up with next!

Ok, first things first…I think a cruise line like this should really exist. A women’s only cruise, except for a handful of extremely handsome and well-endowed men who make you feel beautiful and desired. SCORE! Jody is jaded on the heels of her divorce from her husband of 15 years. She and her friends go on a cruise and her resolve to swear off men is tested when she meets Taggert. An incident with a flying shoe leads to an instant connection. Problem is, besides her swearing off of men, Taggert is a famous and she fears too smooth and womanizing for her. But Taggert falls hard for Jody and they carry on a whirlwind romance. Once they are back on dry land, however, their budding relationship is tested by reality. When real life comes into play, will they be able to get past the conflict and see if they can find happiness with each other. This is a very fun read. It’s one of those love stories that you kind of float through a cloud on. There’s drama, and sex and passion, but in the end everything just works out for everyone involved, and it leaves you with the warm fuzzies. There’s always a time and a place for a fluffy, romantic read and this book is that. What I did like the best was how even though this was a romance there were still many parts that were grounded in reality. Sure, it’s a feel good read, but it also has an element of realness to it when it comes to the characters that make it not seem so out of the realm of real world possibility. This was an enchanting book that I really enjoyed. 4 stars. Though I will add that I’ve been unable to get the Styx song “Come Sail Away” out of my head since I finished this book. Unofficial theme song! Reviewed by Sara Squared for Crystal's Many Reviewers *Copy provided for honest review*

SAIL AWAY WITH ME by Kate Deveaux is a romance that starts with the cruise but doesn't end there. It goes way beyond falling in love onboard. Jody is recently divorced and on a cruise with her three best friends that one of them won in a promotion. First thing she does is nearly lose her shoe. Thankfully a handy beefcake Prince Charming bringers her show back to her... "Whose is this?" holding the petite sandal high in his hand, parting the crowd searching for the owner of the shoe. -Taggart Keith, beefcake of this tale Despite trying to keep her distance, the famous self-help author just won't give up. He positively pushes his way through her boundaries and into her heart. It's what happens after the cruise that make this more than a quick steamy romantic read. They live on opposite coasts and she cannot uproot her life, not with her son, dad and best friends all living in Beacon Bay. But will the successful author be able to leave his busy Miami life? Sail away with Jody and Taggart and find out for yourself.

I received an e-galley of Sail Away with Me as part of the blog tour for an honest review. One of the reasons I wanted to read this book was because it is centered around a cruise. And who doesn't love cruises? From the very beginning the attraction between Jody and Tag is right on the surface. It didn't take too long before I was laughing at the whole group. Jody and Tag have some pretty hot moments quickly, but there's some tension that carries through the book. Tag is on ship for work, and Jody is there because her friends think it's time she gets back into the dating game. Kate does a good job of balancing Jody's worries with her attraction to Tag. And the romance...WOW! Candlelight dinners. Sex under the stars in a pool. And more that leave you breathless. Overall this is a pretty good book. If you want a different setting with some magnetic characters then I'd recommend it.

There's nothing like embarking on a little on board romance, especially when it can turn into true love ... even when you're not looking for it! Jody Carter is a recently divorced single mother who has sworn off men. Best friends Cricket, Doreen, and Lauren convince Jody to come with them on a week long Caribbean cruise. Taggart Keith is a well-known self-help author who takes the cruise to promote his latest book and hold celebrity guest lectures. While boarding the cruise ship, Jody's shoe gets caught in the gangplank, and when she tries to free it, the shoe goes flying through the air and is caught by Taggart. Instant attraction leads to a fantasy week full of passion, pleasure, and fun, but when the cruise is over and it's back to reality, can Jody and Taggart's love remain? Sail Away With Me is a sassy contemporary erotic romance that sweeps the readers off their feet. Author Kate Deveaux weaves a sexy tale of finding love in an unexpected place, that is full of romance, passion, fun, and steamy sensuous sexual love scenes. The first half of Jody and Taggart's story takes place on the cruise ship, then the second half takes place after the cruise when they return to their own lives. I really enjoyed watching as Taggart broke down Jody's walls and found a place in her heart while they enjoyed the fantasy week of passion and pleasure on the cruise ship. The sexual chemistry between them was sizzling hot, hot, hot! But just when the fun can't get any better, reality sets in when the cruise is over and they return to their own lives. Real life intrudes on their budding relationship, they live on opposite coasts and have responsibilities that will leave them having to make a decision if their love can survive past the week's fantasy cruise that they spent together. Author Kate Deveaux has created an entertaining story that nicely interweaves fantasy and reality within Jody and Taggart's romance. I really enjoyed how the author seamlessly intermixed the trials and tribulations of Jody and Taggart's developing relationship with the real life issues that also plagued Jody's best friends. With an engaging cast of characters; quirky dialogue and fun interactions; and a delightful storyline full of intriguing plot twists; Sail Away With Me is a sexy contemporary erotic romance that will leave the reader wanting more!

Jody just wants to have fun with her three friends on their cruise. Being divorced and a mom the last thing she wants is to get involved with a man. However her wayward shoe gets her introduced to celebrity Taggart Keith. While she tries to resist she takes a chance at having some fun with him. When the cruise is over she knows she has to say goodbye to him and get on with her life. Taggart isn't ready to say goodbye. I really enjoyed this book as it is hot, has romance and great characters. You really like Jody, her friends, family and Taggart. Jody seems like a normal person with real issues. An ex who is always making her feel guilty and getting her to loan money to him. She is a great mom and feels.guilty for wanting time to her self. Taggart is so charming but at times doesn't see the bad in people even when he has reasons to turn a blind eye. He also loves to help out and does what he can. I like how they can't stay apart even when they say they would. Taggart does everything he can to show Jody he wants her. I hated to see the book end because I enjoyed their story so much. If you like a spicy love story be sure to get this one.

Find this review and more at Lusty Penguin Reviews! Lovers of contemporary romance will be swept away with Kate Deveaux’s highly entertaining novel Sail Away With Me. Recently divorced, single mom Jody Carter takes a once-in-a-lifetime cruise with her best friends. Jody never suspects that she could fall head over heels for Taggart Keith, the famous self-help author. Jody is stunned by her physical attraction to Taggart, who is handsome beyond measure. The chemistry between Jody and Taggart lights up the page. Their whirlwind romance is filled with scorching hot bedroom play. At the end of the cruise after deciding that their week was just a fling, Jody and Taggart agree not to call each other—that is until Taggart realizes that he can’t live without Jody. He will stop at nothing to convince Jody that they have more to offer each other than just sex. Jody hesitates at continuing a relationship with Taggart because of her young son. She takes her parenting responsibilities seriously, which I really loved about her character. Taggart’s inexperience with children shows as he continually makes mistakes around Jody’s son. But Taggart sees the hurt that he causes, and his apologies are meaningful and heartfelt, which just endeared his character to me. Finally Jody thinks she has found the one and then Taggart reveals his game-changing secret. After Jody leaves him, Taggart takes Jody’s advice, does some serious soul searching, and makes some huge changes in his life. I couldn’t have been happier with the way Taggart goes about winning Jody back. Deveaux does a wonderful job, seamlessly intermixing the relationship struggles of Jody’s best friends, Cricket, Doreen, and Lauren, throughout the story. I found myself equally captivated with their conflicts as I was with Jody and Taggart’s. Absorbing characters and stunning plot twists make Sail Away With Me a delightful read that will warm up your heart on a cold winter’s day. I received an eBook copy of the book for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I was at first drawn to this book for the superficial reason of the heroine having the same name as me. By reading it though I found an entertaining and super steamy read, realistic in its depictions of romance for a single mother trying to juggle many roles and the ups and downs of a supportive group of friends. This story took us from the exotic locations visited during a cruise to the homey feeling of small town America and how that affects a woman's actions in the dance of love. Jody is still recovering from a divorce and the belief that she's frigid. Her friends take her on a cruise to relax, put the past behind her, and enjoy her newly-single status. A flying shoe leads to a life altering encounter with the charmingly seductive writer Taggart that has her channeling her inner vixen in an unexpectedly spontaneous relationship that will end in a week. Their week together is like a fantasy with its numerous scorching sexual encounters and non-stop romantic words that every woman longs to hear. Jody's not normally the type to act so wantonly but knowing things will end soon have her diving into everything Taggart offers wholeheartedly. She's shocked when they both admit to feeling more but with such different lifestyles she doesn't see a future for them. Taggart's not like any man she's met before though and is surprised to find him on her doorstep trying to make a permanent place in her life until his possessive agent gets in the way. Jody is an average woman trying to juggle the roles of mother, daughter, and bread earner which leaves little time to be a sexual creature. Almost every sexual interlude therefore had a frantic feel to it as their relationship always seemed to be ticking away. Jody's a loyal friend as well as was seen in the many secondary plot lines revolving around her girlfriend's trials and tribulations. These scenes were realistic but felt a bit intrusive at times and took away from the romance between her and Taggart. I admired Jody and her striving to be independent, she's a modern-day woman and I was rooting for her HEA every step of the way. Taggart is the kind of man every woman wants to meet! He's sexy, charming, rich, and says every romantic word a woman wants to hear. He sweeps Jody off her feet in a whirlwind of sex, seduction, and empowering compliments. He also doesn't take no for an answer and even though he and Jody live very different lives he wants a life with her and will do whatever necessary to claim her. Taggart's great with her friends and easily ingratiates himself with them as well as her son. On almost every level he's perfect, except when it comes to his relationship with his overly possessive agent Felicity. Her antics are over-the-top in her dealings with Jody as jealousy has her accusing and threatening Jody, and ultimately Taggart, at every turn. Taggart's excuses for her and tendency to forgive because of their complicated past left me a bit disillusioned and frustrated by him. Even though these issues are ultimately dealt with in a quickly glossed over finale it left his image a bit tarnished in my eyes. From start to finish Ms. Deveaux has created a story that nicely blends reality with a scorching hot fantasy-like romance. With its likable heroine and her supportive group of friends there's a feeling of girl power permeating the story as they protect each other at every turn. The hero is almost perfect and left me swooning numerous times throughout th

Jody decides to live life, for at least one week. She goes on a cruise and before she even gets on the ship starts a hot romance with the ships celebrity, Taggart. The fun is supposed to last only one week, but how can she move on once she gets back home to her son, dad, and painting? My Thoughts:  Jody is my hero. She puts her “boring” everyday life behind her for one week. Letting go of her son and her dad to have a girl’s week on a cruise. On that cruise she runs into sexy hot and fun Taggart. I loved watching her fight herself. She tried to stay the good girl, although got very little encouragement to be good from her friends, and not fall for Taggart. Then when the trip was over she tried to go back to the good girl and stay away from him. Taggart is such a hottie. He never gave up on Jody, even when she put walls around herself to keep him away. Then he tried to respect her wishes and keep away from her when the trip was over, but knew that his feelings were more than a one week stand. He is probably my favorite character. He definitely won me over. Sail Away With Me is exactly what I was looking for. Hot romance, a lot of fun, and some erotic scenes. Anyone who is looking for a sexy romance novel certainly has to pick this book up.

Jody's friend, Lauren, won a vacation of a lifetime. Jody and her three dear friends, Lauren, Cricket and Doreen all board a cruise ship. Jody is a new divorcee with a 12 year old son. Jody's shoe catches on the gang plank and goes flying through the air. A gorgeous man reaches up and catches her shoe before it ends up in the ocean. Can Taggart make Jody feel again? Jody is torn over her new feelings and wants. They had a glorious time together on the boat, but Jody is sure that will be all. When Taggart calls and says how much he misses her, she acknowledges her feeling as well. Taggart comes to her home town for a surprise visit. He gets to meet her dad and son. When she makes the trip to Miami for Taggart's big party, she meets Taggart's agent, Felicity. But things turn ugly when Felicity decides that she will ruin Taggart if he moves. Jody decides that she just can't handle being with someone who allows someone to control their life. Will Taggart see what he has with Jody or will he let his past relationship and working relationship with Felicity ruin everything? This was a sweet romantic story. I wish the story had a more detailed ending. I felt a bit let down when I read the last few pages.
