It's Thelma and Louise cow style! Molly and Mabel steal their farmer's truck keys and drive off on a great adventure. Along the way, they just miss crashing into the sheriff's car and the chase begins. Soon the surprised sheriff and his deputies are in hot pursuit of the two cows. Reaching speeds of 85 miles, passing the firehouse, the mayor's place and finally ending up on the main street of town, the cows come to a stop: "'Turn the key off!' Mabel cried. The pickup slowed. The engine died. Molly fainted. Mabel sighed, 'Next time let me drive.'" This book can be enjoyed two ways, a traditional read or by listening to it on CD. This particular book has two recordings to choose from: one with page turning signals, the other without. The voice of Kevin Free narrates the story adding another enjoyable dimension to the already humorous read. Free has a voice for each character, including the accent of a southern farmer. The rhyming verse of the story is cute and at the end of the book, everyone will be saying, "Sakes alive!" This book can enjoyed by the very young, as well as the almost independent reader who can listen to the CD and read along with it.
With its play on words (title and action of the story) this book is a fun ride. Your little ones will enjoy the joke of two cows driving farmers car to town. This story is a happy, lively little tale that's told in just the right way. A must have for your child's library.
My 2 year old daughter loves this book. It is her favorite and mine also. I never get tired of reading it to her. It is definitely a book worth buying.
