Overview

Salvation by Noelle Adams

You get to the point where you can just say it. There was never anything special about me, except my father is rich and important. That's why it happened.

It was just a normal Tuesday afternoon. I was twenty-three and thinking about my new designer boots. They kidnapped me for ransom. They raped me before I was rescued. My therapist says that talking about it means I'm starting to heal.

I don't really think I am.

It's even harder to talk about Gideon. He couldn't save me when it really mattered, so he keeps trying to save me now. He refuses to give up on me, and I can't make him understand. There are some things you just can't be saved from.

Warning: Salvation is a love story that follows a difficult path of healing after sexual assault. It is a true contemporary romance, but it addresses very hard issues, including rape and attempted suicide. Please consider whether this book is for you.

Diana is a girl who grew up in a pampered life and one day she is kidnap due to some of her father's dealings. The journey she has to go through was hard breaking but I loved her growth. I instantly fell for Gideon and loved how he tried so hard to protect Diana.  The only thing I didn't like was the start of the book it was choppy and it wasn't until I was getting towards the end of chapter 1 I understood why it was written that way. So if you can get past chapter 1 you'll enjoy this story in my opinion.

Salvation was so different from many books I read and I just loved it. Everything moved quickly at the beginning but the hurt, damage and anguish they felt was so well described. Everything that they had been through was overwhelming even for me to read let alone the author to portray. Dianna is an independent woman that has a father that worked at a high level for a natural gas company. He dabbled in some  illegal activities and pissed off the wrong person with ties to an Albanian crime family. While walking home from work one day she's kidnapped off a city street from people that her father has been doing business with. From that moment on her life will never be the same. Gideon is an FBI agent working undercover to uncover some illegal activities that the Albanians are taking part in. He was found out and now is sitting in a room awaiting the bosses arrival and his impending doom. Dianna was put in that room with Gideon and that is where their journey began. They talk to pass the time and to calm each other but they both knew that wouldn't last long. After the incident with the Albanians Dianna knew she could never have an intimate relationship again. Her life as she knew it ended that day. I love both characters because they truly helped each other get through this hard time and they cared for each other even though they had never met before that day. I also loved the strength that they showed for each other throughout this book was just beautiful. Warning: This book is best for those over 18yrs old!! Salvation is a love story that follows a difficult path of healing after sexual assault. It is a true contemporary romance, but it addresses very hard issues, including rape and attempted suicide. Please consider whether this book is for you. This book will make you feel every emotion known to man so sit back and enjoy the ride. Five stars have been granted :)   Review by Natalie of Behind The White Picket Fence

I gave this book 5 stars.  This is Diana and Gideon's story.  Diana is a normal, I would say spoiled well off woman, she has everything she wants and surely takes it for granted. That is until the day she is kidnapped and put into a room to suffer unimaginable things. She is raped and left lying on a basement floor. Gideon is in the room with her and tries his best to save her from the fate that he knows is coming, but some things you can't be saved from. This changes Diana and she is never the same person again. This is her story. This is her fate. After all is said and done can she crawl out of the pit that she has fallen into and reestablish her life. Can she be the person she once was? Or can she become someone different? It is all up to her what she does and how she heals. But life is just beginning to be tough for Diana and even with Gideon beside her vowing to never let her down ever again things are hard and Diana doesn't know if she can do it.  Follow Diana's story as she is put through the worst thing a woman should not have to go through. She has to learn to put her life back together and live it the best way that she can. She is half the person she use to be, she is broken and shattered feeling as if she is beyond repair and as much pain as she is in she is willing to stay that way, Hiding away from everyone that would even try to help her come back to life. Gideon is not willing to let her lay down and cry defeat. He is there with her every step of the way telling her that she can do it even when she thinks that her life is over and is not worth the spit on her shoe. This is a beautiful story more about someone coming back from such a horrible incident then the actual incident itself. Diana has to learn that there is life after all that has happened to her, but she also has to learn that life is worth living and she has to get up and try to do the best that she can do for herself. This is a very hard and tough story to read, and there were times i just wanted to scream and cry because of the horrible things that she had to go through even after her rape. She is a very strong woman even when she thinks that she is weak. Thank you for this amazing story Noelle.  This story is Real, Raw, and shattering!
