Frank Henderson was surprised to learn that his old war buddy Mario Sisconi, eldest son of a New York City mafia family, had named him principal heir of his estate when he died. Mario had lived quietly during his retiring years on a small private island in the Caribbean Sea. Frank was even more surprised when he arrived at St. Thomas Island to pick up Mario's sailboat, only to learn that other members of Mario's mob had their own ideas about who was entitled to Mario's bounty. Followed out to Mario's island by the mobsters, Frank soon found himself in captivity, subjected to the cruelest forms of torture as Mario's former cohorts tried to force him to reveal secrets he did not know. During the ordeal, memories of the war and the experiences he and Mario shared left him with little peace of mind, even when the torture ended.

This is great reading if you are retired. However, if you still work this book could cause you to loose sleep. It is hard to stop reading this one. Ponder has created an unusual novel. It was bound to happen sooner or later.
OBSERVATION: This writer carries you sailing through the stormy waters of the Caribbean Sea and lands you in a nest of Mafia thugs. He puts you in the character¿s shoes, and puts the character¿s heart in your bosom. Throughout the venture, flashbacks to the war are filled with memories of love, hate, fear and despair. It is hard to put this book down until the very end.
