In the ever changing world of action and suspense novelists, first time author Alan L. Lee proves that he has staying power. From the first page to the last, Sandstorm will always keep you guessing. If he is sipping drinks in the Caribbean or traveling across the globe, Alex Koves shows us he is not one to be played with. Calm cool demeanor until the situation call for otherwise, and there is plenty of, "Otherwise" situations in the this book. The very descriptive details the author injects into this book makes one feel as if there are not reading the book, but watching, being a part of the action! There were many surprise twists in this book that no matter how hard you try, you can not guess as to what will happen next, (which was a refreshing change) I was waiting for this book to come out. I read it quickly! I am anxious for Alan Lee to finish up the second book because there is some unfinished business that needs to be taken care of! Great Job Alan!

Grab yourself a rum and coke and pull up a lounge chair, this is the kind of book that urges you to sink your feet into the sand and escape for a while. Alan Lee's debut novel Sandstorm is a great summer read. The spy thriller moves quickly, grabbing your attention on the very first page, adding a few beats to your heart rate and a few volts of electricity to your brain, waking up your sense of curiosity. Like a good puzzle that you can't stop working until you solve, Sandstorm is hardly work at all, it's more like a guilty pleasure. Lee's story flows and his characters are easy to like and hate. The clock is ticking as a hot CIA operative named Nora Mossa becomes the target of a group of exclusive billionaire boys and an Israeli spymaster. They want her dead and she she doesn't know why. Her quest to survive leads her to uncover a multinational conspiracy whose main objective is to arm Iran with nukes. Thousands of lives in the Middle East depend on Mossa's ability to survive and TO solve the clues to this deadly plot. She can't do it alone and the now rogue agent is forced to team up with her former lover and ex-CIA agent Alex Koves. He's a man's man with biting humor. In fact, Koves is the kind of man most men wish they could be: World class athlete, handsome, smart, funny and with the ability to have any women he wants. Reading Sandstorm lets you be that guy, if just for a while. Lee does a masterful job of taking you inside his character's heads, without over explaining motive or history. The dialogue is quick-witted, and I found myself laughing out loud several times throughout the book. The chemistry between the virile Koves and the leggy Mossa had me making another rum or coke or two. My wife enjoyed the benefits too. I also found myself turning the pages as quickly as possible to find out what happens next. The level of suspense hung with me after I put the book down. It didn't make turn on the light in a room, but did make me look closer at the shadows. For me, that's the right balance: More about intrigue with the thrill of fear. The novel takes you to exotic and historic places around the world, without the annoying layover hangover. As a married, father of two, Sandstorm offered me the kind of escape that I can afford on my schedule and pay scale. In the end I recommend this book for one giant reason: It's FUN. If you're taking a summer vacation, pack Sandstorm for a complete escape. Can't physically get away? Give your self a weekend getaway and stretch out for a good read that takes you places. Kudos to Lee on his first novel. I look forward to the sequel.

I honestly bought this book to fill my FOX2 news library...I.E. Lee Thomas and Charlie LeDuff...I was surprised at how great this book actually was/is. From beginning to end absolutely no disappointments.... and the ending...shall I say GREAT... I'm looking forward to more books by one of my favorite anchors. So here's hoping that Mr. Alan L. Lee gives us (his loyal fans) more great books to read. I just thought he was a great and funny anchor, who knew he'd a great novelist as well... Fan for life, THIS GAL.

Jason Bourne, watch out! Alan L Lee's  sweeping spy thriller "Sandstorm" is on the loose, and the action is engaged cover to cover. Lee's rich characters provide sturdy ballast to hold the sail tight in the wind of adventure, and each page keeps on giving.  Lee's pen creates rich scenic environments, not by taking tangents from the story, but rather cleanly creates the "where" within the thrust of the adventure. The detail is so clean, the mind's eye creates a fully loaded action film. But unlike a typical DVD, "Sandstorm" offers no place to press the pause button. You'll find the book remains in your hands as you feel your way to the kitchen for a snack. But while at the 'fridge, grab an extra snack for later...it's likely you won't want another interruption.

Action builds chapter by chapter to a phenomenal ending.  I really like the strong women characters in this book. Love the fact this story is so topical with world events. More of Alex and Nora please!

Engaging from beginning to end. Interesting storyline with the right amount of action. The characters are well developed with believable dialogue. A good political thriller with a bit of a twist without being over the top. I was truly suprised by who I found myself rooting for near the end. This book definitely leaves you eagerly awaiting more.

Alan Lee's debut thriller "Sandstorm" is an outstanding first effort in the crowded field of skilled authors. Once I started reading, I had to pace myself so I could thoroughly enjoy this man's work. If you've ever eaten a rich dessert you know the feeling I'm talking about! This one has it all: tension, intrigue, behind-the-scenes plotting and misdirection, people putting their lives (personal & professional) on the line for what they believe in...all very cleverly crafted into what I predict will be a very successful thriller. Alan Lee can stand alongside such stalwarts in their field as Flynn, Baldacci, Thor, Metzler, and Coonts!

Alan L. Lee’s Sandstorm, is a fantastic debut novel. What more could you want in an action suspense book then CIA agents, an Israeli spy, a Mossad agent a United States Senator and a billionaire who all appear to be immersed in an Iranian nuclear operation.  The series introduces readers to Alex Koves a former CIA agent and an ex-pro football player. His ex girlfriend and current CIA agent Nora Mossa, hunts Alex down to the St. Thomas islands where he’s enjoying a much needed vacation, begging him to save her life.  Agreeing to save Nora from a group of industrialists who believe Nora is onto their devious plot; Alex embarks on a wild mission to save her. They will need to overcome their present and past if there is to be a future together. Add in a Israeli spymaster who controls the Mossad's most lethal assassin and the adventure begins to take hold. Set in the backdrop of Sandstorm takes place against the real life United States and Israel dealings to keep Iran from building up its nuclear abilities.   Sandstorm grabs the reader from the first page to the last for one wild thrilling ride.  This book is filled plenty of twists and turns that keep will keep its readers engaged until the last page, and have them wanting to come back for more.  Its pages are filled with believable characters and plot lines that make it shine in a sea of action thrillers.   Action thrillers are not my typical genre but as Alan L Lee is a local author I was simply drawn to wanting to check this title out. I found it to be a well written book that kept me engaged in the story right through the last page and wanting to read more. I cannot wait for the follow up to Sandstorm! This book was along the lines of the genre I read. It holds the attention of the reader with good character development. It appears the author left room for possible sequels. I sincerely hope he intends to keep turning out such quality of work. I also appreciate his vocabulary level. Will buy more of his work.

For mr. Lee's first book, I was truly impressed.  I love the political thrillers and Mr. Lee's book kept me interested the whole book.  If you like Vince Flynn, Brad Thor or any int that gender, you will enjoy this book

After reading Sandstorm I thought back to my reading of first time novels by authors such as Thor, Baldacci, Flynn, and Coulter. I must say that it ranks right up there with those more widely known authors. If you are looking for a book that has you from page one then Sandstorm if for you. I look forward to a second novel by Alan L. Lee

A dazzling debut thriller that captures you immediately and refuses to let go until the very end. This is everything you want a thriller to be: complex intrigue, foreign locales, and characters that live with you long after you finish the last page.  From the snow white beaches of St. Thomas to the sand dunes of the Middle East, join Alex Koves and Nora Mossa as they race against time to stop Operation Sandstorm from being fulfilled. To do so, they must battle the demons of their past while they face great evil. I am hoping that this is first in a series.   Alan Lee is a talent to watch!

Absolutely dynamite debut thriller that literally kept me up nights hanging on what happens next. The characters were so clearly defined, I had my own visuals of all of them physically and the emotional connection you hope for. I am a tough critic and at the very least a hard sell when it comes to thrillers, but this one had me closing it already waiting with baited breath for the next in what I hope will be a long series. Cannot recommend it highly enough! Kudos Alan Lee!!!!

From beginning to end, Sandstorm was fast-paced, thrilling, and really kept my interest throughout the entire book. The mini chapters I thought were an interesting way to present the book...but it worked in this case. There were many different characters involved in the storyline and by having shorter chapters, it made it easier to understand what was happening with each one and how they were all connected. The ending was a surprise...certainly not what I had expected. But...isn't that the point? It has left me wanting more from Mr. Lee and eagerly awaiting a sequel to Sandstorm. Maybe a movie version isn't too far behind...?!?!?

I thought the book was outstanding. I found it hard to put down. It kept me reading well past the time I should've gone to bed. He keeps the characters moving and your mind racing as to what will happen next. I can't wait to read his second novel, I'm sure it will be as thrilling as his first.
