Sarah Carpenter has three days to pay her rent and less than four dollars in her checking count. At the farmer's market near her home, a mysterious woman offers her a lavender pouch and instructs her to come back in one week and either return the pouch with the items inside or pay five dollars. Sarah takes the pouch and opens herself to the gift of magic.

Merri Hiatt grew up in a small town near Shasta Valley in Northern California. Upon moving to the Pacific Northwest in Washington state, Merri fell in love with the mountains, ocean, rain and lush greenery.
Merri credits her high school creative writing teacher with giving her the nudge to pursue writing.
