Sarah: Laney's Angel by Gay N. Lewis

Beautiful, talented, and stubborn, architect Laney Taylor battles her attraction to the handsome and wealthy—but mulish—homebuilder, Cannon Carlson. After all, he is her employer, and business and pleasure don’t mix, do they?

Sarah, a klutzy, perpetually direction-challenged angel who craves cheeseburgers and fancies red stilettos, is sent to Houston on assignment. She’s to bring these obstinate people together, but she faces major challenges, especially since Laney is threatened by a mysterious stalker who plans to kill her.

To protect Laney, the Commander of Heaven dispatches a second, more seasoned warrior angel, Tomas, to Earth with divine instructions to protect Laney. But will hit-or-miss Sarah get in his way? Can Sarah unite Cannon and Laney romantically together?

Oh merciful heavens! What will Sarah do this time?

The second in what is to be a series, “Laney’s Angel” features a repeat performance by ditzy angel Sarah, whose charge is to bring people together according to God’s plan for them. This book introduces architect Laney, fated to be with her rich, handsome developer-boss Cannon. Not only is she hesitant about mixing romance and work, but also, unbeknownst to her, a malefactor is tracking her to do evil. Sarah is learning from her stints on earth, for she only pulls a few boo-boos, yet her very human failings over stilettos, driving, and disguising her appearance keep the book’s tone amusing. A second angel, Tomas, is charged with the more aggressive and muscular defense tactics to repel actual threat. Sections containing theology place this book firmly in the Christian category, while twists like Laney’s suddenly mysterious background enliven the plot. One caveat: the sections dealing with employees from a party would be more realistic had the characters not responded stereotypically. A light, entertaining story with thoughtful undertones.

A cute story about a bumbling angel, Sarah, who is sent to bring two strong willed people together. There is some danger, some mystery, romance and comedy as we see if Sarah is able to complete her mission. This is a lighthearted read, but does delve into a few deep issues. The gospel is definitely presented throughout the book. The story is told, for the most part, from the angel's perspective, which is something I had to get used to in the book. This book is the second in a series, however, it stands on its own just fine. I would recommend the book to those looking for a story told in a lighthearted manner, from a unique perspective. I was provided with an advanced reader copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Cute and funny, but with plenty of romance and suspense also. This is a fun read, with many light moments interspersed with passages that really made me think. Sarah (the angel)'s viewpoint present a plausable perspective on so many real-life events that to us seem random. I thoroughly enoyed "Sarah: A Mission of Love" BUT "Sarah: Laney's Angel" is even better! Definitely worth reading.

Sarah, the directionally impaired and slightly improper angel with her love of hamburgers and stilettos, is back and earth will never be the same. This time her mission is to bring Laney Taylor and Cannon Carlson together, but they’re both stubborn, hardworking individuals. Laney is attracted to Cannon, but he’s her boss and she definitely feels business and pleasure don’t mix. Sarah’s misguided adventures wind up getting her charge, Laney, hurt with a spangled ankle, but Cannon comes to the rescue. Another time Sarah tries to steer Cannon in the right direction but backs into his sports car. “Oh, poopty doopty.” As Sarah would say. When Sarah arrives on earth Tomas, the warrior angle is sent to protect Laney. Sarah is fearful something will go wrong with her charge and Sarah can’t interfere with Tomas’ mission, but he may need her help. Who is trying to harm Laney? And will she and Cannon get together before it is too late. Ms. Lewis writes a wonderful story with warm and delightful characters. Sarah is so adorable. I visualize her in her long, flowing robe sitting cross legged on the top of Laney’s car, golden curls flying. I hope Sarah visits us again real soon.
