A note from Lynda: The hero in this story is über alpha. Proceed carefully.
John Garrett is a cynical multi-millionaire who is rarely denied anything he wants, until the day he meets Sarah McAlister. Sarah's been hurt in the past and everything about the brooding rancher sends her defenses on high alert. She tries her best to stay out of his path, but his relentless pursuit makes him all but impossible to resist.
John knew his voice was rough, and the hesitation he could see in her only confirmed it. She paused in the act of climbing up. Her foot on the running board was as far as she got before her eyes lifted to his with a look of extreme caution.
He tried to control his voice, but he knew it was a futile attempt. "Get in the damn car, Sarah."
He watched as she licked her lips and took a deep breath. Then she lifted herself onto the plush leather seat and pulled the door closed.
He activated the locks immediately.
Her eyes flew to his and he leaned over and pulled the seat belt strap over her shoulder. He could feel the subtle trembling of her body and knew she was out of her element and probably even scared. He couldn't find it within himself to care; she had him on a knife-edge and had since the first day he'd seen her. He was purely pissed off by the ring on her finger and felt the need to punish her for it. He snapped the seatbelt in place with a discernable click and then lifted her chin and gripped it between his fingers. "You don't think I intend to let you go now, do you?"

About the Author

Lynda loves words, whether she's reading them or writing them. Having spent countless hours looking for the exact kind of hero ( in print !) that fuels her fantasies, she decided to create him herself. She writes romance novels, novellas and short-stories, all with a dominating, alpha-male hero and a heroine he can't manage to walk away from. Her stories are sometimes shockingly hot and sensual, but are always monogamous and contain only one hero and one heroine. A happy ending is a must!

Lynda has lived her whole life in Texas and resides in Galveston County where she spends most of her free time gardening and transforming her tiny house on the water into a cottage fit for a queen. (or a romance novelist.)

Lynda has been married for twenty-five years to the man of her dreams and has two kids away at college.

Okay, so I understand that John is über alpha, I knew that going into it. I wasn't impressed with this book. It took me 2 days to even get into it, the beginning has nothing to hold you to it. The middle is captivating. I don't know what it was about these characters. I'm a huge fan of fifty shades of grey, and the crossfire series where then men are more dominate and controlling. Those books had me hooked after chapter one. John just seemed scary. There as no vulnerability with no, no give. He was controlling to the point of scariness. At times I was thinking run Sarah run. Sarah made me hate women. She'd let John tell her how to live her live. End your engagment, never talk to him again, don't hang out with your friends. He seemed to agreesive, almost forcing her to have sex. He wouldn't listen to reason, or consider her feelings in anything. He made her completely dependent on him, not allowing her to have a life of her own. The end f the book just made me angry. He proposes while angry with her, then it just jumps to 3 years later. What? Why don't romance novels elaborate more? Just as soon as I'm getting not it, they skip what could be good parts. John coming face to face with Randall, or seeing how her life was in Dallas. I feel like 2.99 was wasted.

I loved this book!! Its very sexy and romantic. Was hooked from beginning to end. Sad that it had to end, but its definitely a must read! One of those books that you continue to think about even after its done.

This story is high on testosterone, short on communication. John is rich, strong, masculine and arrogant. In reality, I would hate a guy like him, but I do enjoy reading about how these bad boys get brought to their knees by a woman. This is not a sensitive romance. He's not a nice guy, because he doesn't know how to be a nice guy. He's been stomped on and unloved and used for his money. There's also a nice bit about Raul and Elaina Vega. Not a lot, just enough to let you know they're still doing okay. If you like her other books, you'll like this one. If you're a feminist, stay away, it'll just make you mad.

The female is a little bit stronger but the male is dominate and border line over the top. What woman wants a man like that?

Very possessive sexy rancher and shy teacher come together in an explosive way. They both have a common history of cheating ex-spouses.

My first book by Ms. Chance and I liked it a lot. Yeah John was extremely alpha it was almost scary but I think many women respond to that. I felt like Sarah should have had a little more of a backbone but other than that it was a good read and well written. Alpha male books written by other authors are great but Ms. Chance gives her males a more tough exterior while having the ability to love someone so much it becomes a bit scary. Sex scenes are awesome. I have already picked up several of her other books. If you don't enjoy reading books with sex and alpha males then don't pick this book up only to give it a bad review for containing the very things all other reviewers are exclaiming about....with that said...enjoy!

I CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK

Then you will like this book. Other readers have critcized Ms. Chance's male leads as being too domineering but that's one of the things I like most about her stories. I might not like to be bossed around in real life but reading about it is great fun. Another solid read.
