Satan's Tail (Dreamland Series #7) by Dale Brown, Jim DeFelice

The beast isalive and prowling the high seas. As extremist Islamic pirates, armed and supported by a powerful Saudi terrorist, prey on civilian vessels in the Gulf of Aden, America aggressively answers with serious muscle -- a next-generation littoral warship with a full range of automated weapons systems that the enemy has dubbed "Satan's Tail." However, unforeseen technological problems combined with the suicidal tendencies of a fanatical foe mean support is needed from above -- and a pair of Dreamland's awesome Megafortresses and their Flighthawk escorts are dispatched to the war zone. But bitter professional rivalries threaten to damage, perhaps even destroy, the mission, as a vengeful opponent takes advantage of the disruption -- to strengthen his outlaw navy and set its sights horrifically high -- raising the stakes in a battle the U.S. and the world simply cannot afford to lose.

((WARNING: This story & all it's chapters will contain lots of cussing & references to m/f, m/f/m, m/m/m/m & m/m/f/m s.e.x as well as some references to yaoi(boyxboy). All videos mentioned can be found on YouTube & belong to their respective owners. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. CONTINUE IF YOU DARE.))
I have some secrets. I don't dare tell anyone so I'm writing them all down in hopes that by getting them off my chest I can move on & get over them. Know now that by continuing on you are bound by unspoken promise never to tell what is contained in these pages. If you tell, your death will be slow & painful. Anyways, I guess it all began about a couple years ago. I was a rebellious 15 year old with several naughty obsessions...
The phone rang. "Call from Alena's cell." "S.h.i.t" I mutter, pausing the YouTube vid I was watching. I pick up the phone, rasing my voice to sound more cheery. "Are you coming home?" "No." My heart rises. "It's to close to my doctor appointment. I was calling to tell you I was heading on over to the clinic." "Okay." I say. "How're you doing with school?" "Fine." I lie. "Are you getting anywhere?" "Yeah." The lie rolls out without a second thought. "Okay. See you in a couple hours." "Okay. Uhuh. Bye." I hang up & go back to the what I was watching. It was a vid of a Final Fantasy VII Advent Children yaoi pairing someone thought up. It totally fit. The paring is RenoxKadaj. The vid is called "Reno kissed a 'girl' and he liked it." The song it was set to was "I Kissed A Girl" by Katy Perry. After it finished I went to click on another tab where I was watching the actual Advent Children movie. As i moved the mouse I said "I wish I lived in that world instead of here." Immeadiately a notification popped up. Curious I clicked on the little bell. A screen popped up. "One New Message." 'I didn't know YouTube did email.' I thought as I clicked on it. A message screen appeared. It said "do you want to come?" "Come where?" I ask. "You know." "The Final Fantasy world?" I'm starting to catch on now. The words keep typing themselves on the screen as soon as I speak. "Yes. Two questions. One, before or after Advent Children?" "After." I say firmly. "Two, are you sure you wish to go?" "Yes." I say, still firm. "Very well then." The screen disappears. The tab with the Advent Children movie on it highlights itself & pops the movie to fullscreen. A swirling vortex appears in the middle of my laptop, slowly growing larger untill it fills the whole screen. I feel an irresistable desire to touch the screen. The instant I do, the glass screen shatters & I am sucked into the vortex.
((Hope you like. Keep reading. More will come soon.))
&#9825KH&FFfan4ever&#9825

Dale Brown and Jim DeFelice continue to impress and intrigue with the Dreamland series. They do a great job of describing the features, functions, and operations of the high-tech weaponry used by the Dreamland team, and the ongoing, developing dynamics of the individuals and relationships among them. My only knock is that while the reader clearly wants the "good guys" to win, there could be a deeper development of the characters and motivations of the "bad guys" along the way. It wouldn't necessarily rationalize their causes or justify their evil actions, but would involve us more deeply and personally in the stories.
