Overview

Savage Garden is light, catchy, and undeniably melodic, and it's hard to believe they released their debut album in the late, not early, '90s. It's easy to say that their breakthrough single, "I Want You," sounds like a revamped Roxette, but it's accurate -- it has a breezy chorus and frothy production that make it an appealing slice of mainstream pop, the kind banished from the airwaves in 1992. Occasionally, Savage Garden reach that peak elsewhere on their eponymous debut -- most notably on the second single "To the Moon and Back" and "Truly Madly Deeply" -- but they lack the vision and discipline to make the record anything more than fitfully entertaining. But those highlights almost make the album worthwhile.

at first when the cd came out in 1997, i was like 'ya, another group, another cd....' so i didn't get it. well now i've realized i really like the songs off of it espically 'truly, madly, deeply', so now i'm gonna go buy it.

Wow, does this CD blow you away! from beginning to end, you're into the whole pop music of Savage Garden. they have incredible music, and are very talented for composing such beautiful, and well, almost complicated songs. I'll say it, and i'll say it again.... Savage Garden is the best Australian band ever!

Savage Garden is the best group in pop music today. Their music holds a quality that I haven't found in any other recent artist: integrity! I just listened to this CD for the first time today (I already have Affirmation) My favorite songs are 'to the moon and back,''universe' and 'santa monica'. Darren and Daniel have something really great, and I hope they continue to record. The two albums are different, but both enjoyable and magical.

I have both albums by this wonderous group, Savage Garden and Affirmation but i thought i'd write here and be the first reviewing this title. I love their albums, they have so much feeling and meaning in thier songs, it is true music. They seem to know much about life and the problems many go through, they put it to music and it can help so much, you wouldn't believe it. They hold a magic that i have not yet found in any other group, and i don't think i ever will.

in all of my life, i've never heard anything so sensual and melodic as savage garden. their songs are so magickal, you feel it in you when you hear it; it mingles with your essence and you become the music and the music becomes you. it's passionate yet sensitive at the same time. the songs are catchy, but not empty and meaningless like mainstream pop. it can evoke a romantic atmosphere or deluge of emotions that you can choose from. this is the best album that you can buy!

I love Savage Garden. The most romantic songs, that stood out in my mind were Truley, Madley, Deeply, and I want you. I love thoes two. And I like A Thousand Words, and Santa Monica. Who am I kidding, I like all the songs.

Oh my god, Savage Garden rules! I've been a fan ever since they came out. For awhile I didn't listen to them because I was into the whole Britney Spears thing, but then I realized these guys are the real thing and they will be forever! SAVAGE GARDEN RULES!
