Danger lurks in the shadows and desire shimmers in the sultry heat in this novel of the leopard people from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan…

When Saria Boudreaux finds a dead body in the Louisiana bayou near her home, her first instinct is to go to the police. But there’s a problem—it looks like the victim may have been killed by a big cat, and her brothers are all shape-shifting leopards.

Sent to investigate by the land’s owner, leopard shifter Drake Donovan is ready for anything—except the insatiable hunger that rocks him when he meets Saria. Deep in his soul he knows that she is destined to be his mate. Torn between protecting her brothers and finding the truth, Saria treads warily around the powerful shifter. Yet as they venture deep into the mysterious bayou on a hunt for the killer, Saria finds herself longing for Drake’s touch and the sweet release of surrender...

Saria Boudreaux grew up on the Louisiana Bayou, which may explain why she feels a special affinity to the place's eeriest secrets. However, even Saria is taken aback when she finds several corpses all containing leopard bites. She fears for her older brothers, who are were-leopards though she knows her siblings would not commit these atrocities. Saria decides not to call the cops, but instead contacts the land owner Jake Bannaconni. He sends Drake Donovan to investigate the serial killings. At first sight (and sniff) Drake realizes that Saria is his mate as he struggles to control his euphoric inner leopard. He also senses she is on the verge of her first shift. As he makes inquiries into the murders and starts his courtship of his beloved, Drake learns a lesson about life on the Bayou when none of the leopard-shifting families including Saria's kin cooperate. The latest Wild Leopard romantic bayou fantasy (see Wild Fire and Burning Wild) is an exciting whodunit as a serial killer stalks the Louisiana swamps. The bayou locale adds a strong sense of foreboding that feels even more uneasy with each corpse. That strong fearful strangeness accentuates the feuding shifter clans. However, the exhilarating story line belongs to the lead couple as he knows she is his mate, but must be cautious while she wonders why he has not jumped her bones. Harriet Klausner

I have probably read every book that Christine Feehan has ever written, even her books that are not in series, as well as her e-books. with that said, in the last few years I've noticed that her style of writing has change somewhat. Nothing completely major, but I have to say that with some of the last books shes written in her other series honestly have been hit or miss. Savage Nature was better, but it got repetitive and boring in parts, and I got really annoyed that she made another leading character use the term "hussy" about her leopard or cat. She needs to branch out with another term, every Leopard book shes written the female lead has referred to her cat as a hussy. And she kept repeating it! It just got annoying. The leading couple didn't mesh well for me either, I felt that Saria was too immature, and bratty. I just didn't get it.....I'm not trying to say that this book was bad, the storyline was good, I liked where Christine took us this time. Shes had other bayou stories but this was more in depth and I can really see the potential of the other characters and books to come. Its going to get better!! :)

Its fun to see some of the same characters and meet new ones. Drake has had his leg operated on and he is ready to see if he can change into a panther again. He has not been able to do it for over 2 years and had given up on being able to change again. Saria is a young woman who has run wild in the swamps around her family. Her dad was a drunk and her mom died when she was little and her brothers were older by at least 8 years and she was alone with her dad for years while her brothers left home for armed forces. She is a guide in the swamp and is starting to get recongition for her photos. she cooked clean house and worked traped aligators, fished and hunted and mangage the store and bar her family has had in the swamp from 10 years old. While she is in the swamp at night in a blind trying to get a photo of baby birds she notices strange things in a remote place no one goes too. so after they leave she goes and finds a dead body that has been killed with a knife and panther bite. She found out really young that her brothers were able to shift into panthers and as far as she knew none else can do that and her brothers dont talk to her about it. Her oldest brother is a homacide detective so she doesnt want to go to police. So she writes a letter to owner of the land jake and sneaks it out and Drake and his team come to find out who the murder is and whats going on thier; I enjoyed the book. skiped pages of love scenes.

I read the back and really wasn't feeling the book; well once I started reading I couldn't put it down. Was a good read, got slow in a few parts but even so the detail and the feel you get for the characters is all worth the drag of certain parts. Definitely making this a must read for Christine Feehan fans.

Feehan's Leopard Series - Travel with Drake to the Louisiana bayou swamp to an out of control lair of shifters where he meets his match in Saria Boudreaux, whose lived her whole life in the swampland. This book was full of action and excitement and kept me guessing until the end.

The fifth installment to the Leopard series has really strong characters and they definitely drive the action. I loved Saria! She rocked everything and had some great lines. Drake was her perfect partner and he kept up with her well. Their passion was great between the two of them. The antagonist was a nice surprise, Feehan didn't give us any hints as to who it would end up being, until the very end. Feehan really knows how to keep the reader guessing until she is ready for us to know who the antagonist truly is. I enjoyed going back to New Orleans, some of my favorite books by Feehan seem to take place there (or northern California coast--Drake Sisters series rocks!), so I loved returning there and can't wait to read Remy's story :-) I continue to enjoy this series. I want to say though that it isn't my favorite of Feehan's series, so if you are debating on which to start with I recommend the Drake sisters first, followed by the Ghost Walkers, then the Leopard series. Feehan really knows how to tell a story and her characters are always strong and well developed. The action and conflict in this one was good and moved quickly. There are no slow spots in it. Overall, a good read :-) Rio's book is still my favorite, followed by Jake's book, then this one, so it is one of the better ones in the series.

Great book. Somehow I managed to skip this book and went back to read it. Loved the story, loved the suspense, the dark handsome leading men. Our heroine is strong and very independent.
