Blah. What's good about this is that it is a better read than the author's previous book 'Ladies Night.' Everything else is predictable. While the setting of a florist business in Savannah is good, and the floral descriptions engaging, the rest is tired. This is a book we have read before and can see the ending from the first few chapters. It is formula. There are a couple of 'blink and you'll miss it' winks to earlier characters Be Be and Weezie--who populated early novels that were a lot more engaging. A harmless time waster but very disappointed that Andrews has not had a really engrossing read since 'Spring Break.' Maybe there needs to be a longer period between novels.

Mary Kay Andrews, is the Queen of the South, with her humor, mischief, and creative characters. Having read all her books, SAVE THE DATE took on a new twist into the world of weddings, flowers, and of course-- all the drama and chaos, which comes along with events, brides, and their crazy mothers, and families—all with an opinion. As emotions run high—Mary Kay incorporates all the social media with Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter—as Cara, the owner of a small florist shop in Savannah, GA, faces all sorts of problems and challenges. Number one her ruthless gay competitor (even trying to steal her assistant). Cara, not only unlucky in love, with her most recent divorce, she buys a dog name Poppy to keep her company, and is in debt to her demanding father who is threatening to call in her loan for her business. There are so many unexpected problems, she is having a hard time staying afloat. Her assistant, a gay gut Bert, always has some thrilling dating stories, get involved with the competition, causing more problems for Cara. Then she meets a good-looking guy who steals her dog by mistake, a hot apartment and shop with a dead landlord, and plenty of nasty clients. You can expect tidbits of design, and renovations, as the new guy is a pro with renovations of all sorts, helping her with the barns and other venues, as talented Cara pulls off the best weddings in town! Full of drama and humor, a predictable, light and easy beach read. Was not wild about the audiobook narrator, Kathleen McInerney--an influencer, when rating.

Enjoyed this story and its characters so much. Once again, this author made the people believable because they are not perfect. I liked that she made brief reference to Savannah residents from previous books, favorites BeBe and Weezie.

Absolutely loved this book. MK Andrews grabbed my attention with the first sentence and held it all the way through. Funny and smart, Save the Date is a must for a great summer read.

I Fun Summer Read!   I was a First Read Winner of this book and I really liked it. It was a fun read with likable characters and a good plot line. This book has it all, some emotional ups and downs for Cara, intrigue, money problems, lots and lots of flowers, crazy bridal parties, romance and 2 dogs. How can you go wrong with that? I only wish that the ending did not feel quiet so rushed, I would have loved more of Cara and Jack and maybe just a little less flower drama. But overall a great summer read.

Save the Date .... This was a really good book, as usual, from this author. I really enjoyed the characters and Mary Kay makes them so real that you hate to have her books end. This started a little slow - but was fantastic from there on out. Definitely recommend reading this book for a light, airy and feel good afterwards book. Can't wait for the next one from Mary Kay. I always order them as soon as they come out - she's a really great talent. I have read all her books - much enjoyment!!!!

Save the Date is a standalone, women's fiction/chick lit novel written by author Mary Kay Andrews. This is the first time I have ever read a book by Ms. Andrews, and overall, I liked it. I enjoyed the romance, the dogs, the light humor, and I loved that this story was set in Savannah, Georgia. And Cumberland Island being included??? Oh my heart ♥. If you have never been to Savannah, then go! It's such a beautiful town with an age that is felt through its historical preservation. And while you are on that side of the state, GO TO CUMBERLAND ISLAND. I mean, Save the Date basically gives you all the information you need to know about it and it's surprisingly accurate. Ferry times and all LOL. I've been twice and have a goal to visit the island many, many more times. It's like being a castaway. It's quiet, tranquil, full of nature, with minimal conveniences. Yep, you're all on your own and completely unplugged. I highly recommend it! Enough about Cumberland Island and back to the book...So you know what I liked about the book. The other stuff, the meat of the story really (wedding planning, flowers, business management, a light mystery, etc.) was just OK in my opinion. The story itself was entertaining but didn't quite capture me with that "can't put the book down" type of feeling. But I did feel comfort with the geographical setting, so that made the experience worthwhile. If you enjoy all types of chick lit, then add this one to your TBR shelf...and while you're online, research a bit more those two Georgia spots and put them on your bucket list. You won't be sorry!

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Mary Kay Andrews, but this book fell short. The main character, Cara Kryzik, labors under the strains of Hercules. No woman has had so many pitfalls as Cara that trouble should be her middle name. Also, Cara cannot accept the Golden Fleece thrown at her feet. The characters seem to flitter back and forth in their roles as sometimes good and sometimes bad, that no character remains with outstanding traits. Money seems to grow on trees according to the behavior of both Cara and Jack, but yet, Cara is always bemoaning the fact that she owes her father a small fortune. People from other Mary Kay Andrews' books are quickly mentioned as potential customers for Cara's floral business. Luckily, the book ends with Cara’s marriage.

Another amazing Mary Kay Andrews book for the summer!! I loved this book and couldn't put it down! I could relate to Cara in ways where you just feel like you are just making ends meet and then are expected to hold things together when they start to fall apart. I would recommend this book to all my girlfriends and would enjoy discussing it with them! Recommend for a summer read.
