Attorney Jared Mathers is severely injured in a hit and run accident. The female passenger in his car dies and the police are shocked to find a gun inside the vehicle. While Jared is in critical condition fighting for his life in the hospital, his wife veterinarian Kate believes the incident is related to a legal case. Kate knows she and Jared have had their differences even having separated for a time, but she prays for his recovery. The police imply he may have been cheating on her, but Kate wants to trust her husband would not and when he regains consciousness will explain all. As Kate remains diligent at his side, she must also cope with his distraught mother who blames her for everything in her son's life that has gone bad; as if Kate drove the other car. Kate makes the tale work as she wants to trust the man she cherishes with her heart, but also knows they have major differences that led to the separation. His upset angry mom adds a strong dose of realism with her holding Kate culpable for her son being in the car with another woman and hurt in the accident. The story line cleverly uses the present situation to tell the back story through Kate's reflections and musing. Roxanne Rustand writes a fabulous family drama as Kate fears there is no more dance between her and her Jared. Harriet Klausner

I'm trying hard to decide what to say about this story. The blurb above is what's written on the back of the book and honestly it doesn't do justice for this outstanding story. Kate and Jared have faced problems in their marriage, as any married couple can attest to, that happens. With SAVE THE LAST DANCE Ms. Rustand allows readers to see Kate and Jared falling in love, but also to see how things can go wrong, how things left unsaid, or assumed can become too much. When we first enter this story we are seeing things through Kate's eyes, but we are also allowed to view things from other characters, things that can be seen as more than one way. As the story progresses we are given tidbits of the beginning of Kate and Jared's story, how they fell in love. All as we struggle along with Kate to make sense of all that's happening. I am generally not a fan of the EVERLASTING LOVE line, either when it was stand alone or now that it's part of the Super Romance line, but with SAVE THE LAST DANCE Ms. Rustand may just change my mind. This is a fascinating story that kept me quickly turning pages and wondering just what would happen, how it all would end. This is an excellent story, the characters are realistic and deeply engaging. The ending leaves things with just enough opening that we might be able to talk Ms. Rustand into writing more stories featuring these characters. I would suggest any reader who wants a wonderful story of what happens after the "HEA" of falling in love, a story that has a touch of mystery, wonderfully believable characters, a page-turner plot, and just enough romance to keep any fan happy, pick up SAVE THE LAST DANCE by Roxanne Rustand today!!! You won't regret it. A great story!
