Saving Grace (What Doesn't Kill You, #1): A Katie Romantic Mystery by Pamela Fagan Hutchins

Multi-awardwinning, Bestselling Romantic Mystery Series

Saving Grace kicks the What Doesn't Kill You series off with voodoo, laughs, and suspense.

Katie Connell is a high-strung attorney whose sloppy drinking habits and stunted love life collide hilariously during a doomed celebrity case in Dallas. She flees Texas for the Caribbean and escapes professional humiliation, a broken heart, and a wicked Bloody Mary habit, but ends up trading one set of problems for another when she begins to investigate the suspicious deaths of her parents on the island of St. Marcos. She's bewitched by the voodoo spirit of an abandoned house in the rainforest and discovers that she's as much a danger to herself as the island's bad guys are.

Stand alone, nice conclusion, great book, editing is 95% correct. Loved the characters. Very mild, general descriptions of murders, violence, rape. (Heroine is lawyer) some romance, no sex, no cursing. The reson, I did not give 5 stars is because of having to read about Nick not loving her back, ( on almost every page) Ava being so perfect and gorgeous, all men want her and she has to have all the men and this book is first person. First person is irritating to me. A lot of the comments are island pathos, which was rather interesting. I enjoyed the six dogs. They acted like dogs and none were harmed in the making of this book. The voodoo angle is more of a ghost angle, but it added a lot of interest and is not over the top, nor is it a main focus. First book was free, second $1.99, third is $3.99, a rather big jump. I do not know if there will be a fouth or not. I did buy 2 & 3. I have not read them yet. A nice cozy, clean mystery. Chick lit. Ages 16 and up. AD

Fun, light and very enjoyable, I recommend setting aside a couple of hours to read in one go. If you like this as much as I did you'll want the next two books. I didn't know the three in one was fifty cents cheaper than separate purchase, but now you do. Enjoy. PJK

Loved, loved, loved this book. First I have read from this author and I will definitely read the rest in this series. Loved her writing style. The storyline kept you involved and the main character, Katie, was so likeable and funny and easy to relate to. Have read so many romance novels recently with SO much sex in them, that this was a breath of fresh air. Mystery, romance and suspense all rolled into one. You won't regret taking the time to read this one!

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the characters and the plot. It kept my interest and kept me reading. I gave it 5 stars because the heroine of the story turned her life around when she was close to rock bottom.

I enjoyed this book very much. I do agree with another comment that too much emphasis was put on the unreciprocated love theme which didn't quite gel with the hot city attorney character. The story was interesting and the characterization unique. I hated to see it end but found out it was the beginning of a series which i will definitely purchase.

I do not do a lot of pleasure reading, and I am pretty particular. I also tend to solve the mystery early, but this ebook kept me guessing and interested beginning to end. I highly recommend if you like to read about strong female characters with just a touch of romance.

This book has a lot of twists and turns. The characters are well developed. The ending is pretty blunt, especially when the next page says "rate my book on Amazon and Good Reads." I recommend this book if your interested in an elaborate plot.

I love thr main character Katie . A littlr far fetched but the descriptive characters keep one hooked and ciming back to see whsr happens. The author knows HOW to tell a story.

I'm THRILLED that there were no sex scenes!!! Fun story, super cute characters, good writing. Thank you for not ruining the story with unnecessary, unrealistic sex. I'm going to look for the next book in the series right now.

This story is fun, funny and an easy read. I loved the island people and their language. There's mystery, regeneration and a little romance w/o all the sex!

I love reading about different cultures, and the Carribean is certainly different. I found myself wishing, (very badly) for the characters to all end up happily paired and settled, but since some of them were so seriously wiggy that could never happen in the space of one book. I loved them all though.
