Best friends to lovers is a risky game...

Pro hockey player Aaron Ferrar has shit luck with women. With one divorce, one psycho, and far too many one-night stands under his belt, he can't seem to break his bad dating habits. He knows he's not good enough for his sweet, sexy best friend, so he would never go there, but it's getting harder and harder to resist her.

Veterinary assistant Sara Chandler has floundered since graduating from college. She left both academia and hockey behind, and now she's a nanny for her best friend while working part-time at a local veterinary clinic until she gets into veterinarian school. She's always been hot for her hockey-playing best friend, but she's not in his league and she's leaving Anchorage soon anyway.

When disaster strikes, Aaron doesn't hesitate to jump in, but nothing is ever going to be the same for them. He doesn't know how to help her and neither of them ever do things the easy way.

I adored everything about this book and I highly recommend it to all Friends to Lovers as well as lovers of Sports Romance. This is book 5 in the Alaska Blizzard Series but it can certainly be read as a stand-alone, I know this because this is the first book in this series that I have read. Sara and Aaron are best friends and when an earthquake leaves Sara needing somewhere to stay and help getting around Aaron is the obvious choice but this couple have hidden their feelings for so long, covered them up with friendship what will happen when they end up living under the same roof... Will crossing the line ruin the wonderful friendship they share or will their feelings grow stronger ? this book captivated me, I loved the characters and I loved the story, it ticked all my boxes and I will certainly be looking at previous books in this series as soon as time permits.

The Blizzard hockey team and their friends and family are almost like home now with the fifth book in this series. I've been waiting for Aaron and Sara's story. For years they have been best friends, but Sara is wanting something more and Aaron is afraid of his past of bad relationships and a fear of losing the friendship he shares with Sara if he takes it to the next level. Of course there are ups and downs, things that bring them closer together or farther apart. But Sara is the best thing in Aaron's life and I had so much appreciation for her, a truly good person, and irritation with Aaron who doesn't seem to know what he wants. This is a lovely series, and each book just adds to the enjoyment of the world of the hockey team and the people in that circle, while set in Alaska. And I love Merlin, that silly macaw. I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my honest review.

I love the Alaska Blizzard series, and this is just a great addition to that. It is, however, just as good as a standalone; Kat Mizera gives enough information on other characters to inform new readers but not too much that might alienate existing fans. There are some absolute gems in this book – both in terms of “characters” and in dialogue, and Merlin is a highlight. The blurb has the essentials on the story, but I felt that Aaron was particularly well written. The reader has insight into his dilemma over Sara, his friendship with her, his relationship with her, and his (misguided) attempt to let her follow her dreams. There is hope, there is intense sorrow, there is joy – this is a brilliant return to the ice. I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.

This is book #5, in the Alaska Blizzard series. This book can be a standalone novel. To avoid spoilers, and fully understand the characters and series, I recommend reading this series in order. Aaron knows he messed up. He has wanted Sara for so long that when they finally get a chance to go crazy he takes it. Then he has to fix his friendship with his best friend. Seems like everytime he tries he just makes it worse. Sara was the reason they hooked up. She knows it was a mistake, but her feelings are real and are hard to ignore. Looking into her future and trying to figure out what to do, she has no idea if she can fit Aaron into it. This was such a crazy hot good book I never wanted to put it down! I loved the characters, and yes we see some of our faves. I loved the passion, the honesty, and this would truly make a great movie. This author knows how to give us highs and lows and its what we have come to expect. ***This early copy was given in exchange for an honest review only.

The forbidden is often the most attractive! With the fifth book in her Alaska Blizzard series, Kat Mizera delights us with Aaron and Sara's story in SAVING SARA. A friends to lovers romance with plenty of drama, hockey action and steamy hookups is sure to please. Aaron is jaded on himself and romantic entanglements these days, so it makes him all the more attractive to a reader. If he doesn't think he can be the man that Sara needs, then we'll just have to silently cheer him on from the sidelines ... right? Sara is all mixed up. She wants Aaron, but she's not sure what else she wants out of life yet and her conflicting decisions are making a mess of what could be the most promising attention she's ever gotten out of him. I recommend this book to anyone loving a romance with a hockey background and a close knit group of friends who consider themselves family. The series has been a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to more happily ever afters to come.

Aaron and Sara have been best friends for years and neither will admit their attraction to each other, after Sara decides to make a move life gets awkward for them but a disaster makes Aaron face his feelings and Sara reevaluate what she wants in life. This book isn't just about falling in love but also about how you need friends, finding out what you really want in life and going for it as well as communication makes everyone life easier ... oh and I really really want a Macaw called Merlin!!!

Emotional hurdles, unrequited love, heated attraction, friendships and heartbreak are waiting on the horizon. Saving Sara has so much going on, but is surprisingly well put together. Mizera plays the heart strings with a romance interrupted. Aaron and Sara have a friendship that can survive anything. Or so they thought. From revisiting old friends to discovering new ones, Mizera proves that a heart can take a beating and still manage to find true happiness waiting on the other side.
