Joseph Schmidt was in Switzerland when my parents were there. He was trying to stay alive just as were all the Jews at that time. He was a beacon of hope and joy to the displaced persons/Jews in Switzerland. When he died, their hearts were broken. He may not be with us any longer, but his wonderful voice will never die. When he sings, the sincerity in his voice remarkable! A true artist - he will forever be missed.

Thank you for buying my realtive's albums. WE were of the opinion that he was one of the very best cantors in the world and we wish more of his music could have survived the Holocaust. I believe that he was one of the best interpreters of the S'hma that ever was. He rates with Richard Tucker as far as vocal range goes. I hear his rendition of the Kol Nidre service was glorious! May G-d bless you and keep his memory alive as well as that of the 6 million other martyrs of the Holocaust. NEVER AGAIN! Hitler killed the music but could not kill the singer!(He died in a Swiss camp trying to return to NYC)We loved him. I wish I had known him
