A brand new book in the USA Today Bestselling PHILADELPHIA PATRIOTS series of sexy sports romances!
Big, tough, sexy...and trouble.
As far as sports agent Kate Berlin is concerned, that describes Nick Rome perfectly. Landing the hard-charging, talented catcher as her new client is a huge coup, and Nick could catapult her small agency into the big leagues--or destroy her reputation if she screws up. Since Nick has a habit of butting heads with Patriots management, the chance for disaster is high.
Nick's had serious agent troubles, so he's willing to give smart and sexy Kate Berlin a try at negotiating his new and much-needed contract. The hardworking single mom is determined to manage Nick both on and off the field, clamping down on the attraction blazing between them. But nobody keeps Nick Rome under control--either on the field or in the bedroom.
Can Kate handle Nick as both her lover and her client, or will succumbing to passion destroy the professional life she's worked so hard to achieve?

I love sports romance and decided to give V.K. Sykes a try when I received her newsletter asking if anyone wanted a review copy of Scoring Position. From the start, I was hooked. Kate and Nick were great characters and I loved the flow of the story, the romance, the sports aspects. Even if one isn't really into sports, it is not hard to get into the story. I loved Scoring Position so much that after reading it, I one-clicked the first 3 books of the series and started reading them straightaway. Can't wait to read more of this series. ** I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
Good story........ Title: Scoring Position Author: V.K. Sykes Genre: Contemporary Romance Format: Ebook Pages: 312 Rating: 4 Setting: Philadelphia Main Characters: Kate, Nick Supporting Characters: Dylan, Nate Summary: Nick has just fired his agent and needs a new one. Nate tells him about Kate and so the story begins. Kate, a divorced mother of a 6 year old son, usually just has female golfers as clients but this opportunity to get a baseball player is too good to pass up, that is until she meets Nick. Dirty thoughts and sexual fantasies make it hard for them both the have just a professional relationship. Will Kate be able to get the deal that Nick wants so he can stay with the Patriots and stay with her? Thoughts: I’ve enjoyed reading this series but I was so happy when I had answers to questions that were from previous books in this installment. I so wanted to know what happened with Taylor from book 2 and finally got my answer in book 6. That was a little frustrating to say the least, this series didn’t seem to continue in any way, some of the characters would appear of course since it’s about a baseball team, but none of the storylines continued, only the time frame. I think because I was expecting a continuation just with different main characters it just didn’t grab me like many stories do. There was really nothing wrong with the writing or story, and it was interesting while reading it but for some reason if I put it down I wasn’t anxious to pick it up again. I’m pretty sure it was just me or my expectations and had nothing to do with the authors and story, which is why I’ve given it 4 stars. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Catching Sports Romance Fever Oh I really enjoyed this book! A great behind the scenes look into what baseball players have to go through with their careers... A sports romance with an entertaining storyline that grabbed my attention! Nick and Kate's relationship has a bunch of ups and downs... a lot happens throughout this book... an emotional journey that pulled me in page after page! I am looking forward to reading more by this talented writing duo! *copy given in exchange for an honest review.
V. K. Sykes, aka Vanessa Kelly and Randy Sykes, hit another home run with Scoring Positions! I had previously read Fastball, Hardball, and Bigger than Beckam, which are all great books, so I had some background on this series. But it’s not necessary, as this is a standalone book. It was nice to catch up with characters from previous books though, especially Martha, as I just love her southern charm and wit. Although I’m not a huge baseball fan I am a huge romance fan, and though sports terms are used I wasn’t confused, and by context learned a few things, which is always good. These two authors make a great team and turn out the best combination of both worlds. There is plenty of romance and the male characters seem to have extra dimension to them. I could definitely tell there was a man’s touch involved, especially in some of the descriptions. An elaborate crystal chandelier was described from Nick’s point of view as just another dust catcher. As a woman who has been house hunting with a man’s man I’ve heard very similar appraisals and that really hit home as true to life. The chemistry between Nick and Kate is off the page and off the charts! Both characters are very likeable, each strong yet vulnerable in their own ways. The passion between the hero and heroine is smoldering and the sex scenes smoking hot. I do realize Nick Rome is a fictional character, but as a romance junkie, I’m quite smitten with him. He’s the perfect combination of tough yet tender. The plot is original and interesting and flows well, the resolution timely and not rushed. I enjoyed the drama of the back and forth with Dembinski and really liked the ending. All in all, I truly enjoyed Scoring Positions and highly recommend it. It’s a great addition to the Philadelphia Patriots Series and a must read! I received a free digital copy of this title for an Honest review.
Kate is a gritty, smart woman with a lot on her plate. Her plate just got a lot bigger. Nick is just the man to help her succeed in a career dominated by men but also the distraction she can't afford to have. Nick was a fun character. He was just cocky enough to aggravate and sexy enough to fantasize about. Kate held her own against the consummate playboy. I received an ARC of Scoring Position in exchange for an honest review. V.K. Sykes is a combination of sexy, smart and entertaining that always delivers a great read.
SCORING POSITION is the perfect book to banish the winter doldrums! Nick Rome, catcher for the Philadephia Patriots, just fired his agent. He wants to renegociate his contract, but the management doesn’t want to give him the money he feels he deserves, mostly because of his hot temper. His best friend and teammate, Nate Carter, knows someone: Kate Berlin, who has a small agency, but represents women and no one from baseball. When they meet, Kate and Nick know they can make a great team, as long as they can keep their mutual attraction under control; Nick doesn’t mind getting involved, but Kate is reticent. I am often a bit wary of sports romances, but it is definitely not a problem with SCORING POSITION; what a great book! I felt I was an insider attending contract negotiations, the sports environment sounds entirely genuine, and the baseball sequences are as vivid as watching them in the ballpark, or at least on a giant HDTV. The narrative flows easily; the prose is clean, uncluttered but elegant, the dialogues are spot-on: every character’s voice is their own, and the banter between the teammates is good for quite a few chuckles. SCORING POSITION is an absolute joy to read! I loved each and every character, even the not so nice ones, because they are all equally well-rounded and unique. What surprised me most is that this is the sixth instalment in the series, and I didn’t feel I missed anything! I loved the friendship between Nate and Nick; Kate is a single mother, and her son Dylan really does behave as a six-year old. Kate is nearly overwhelmed by Nick’s easy charm, and so is the reader; he is not overly arrogant, and Kate really comes off as a real person: professional, but not too perfect. V.K. Sykes’ knowledge of the game is extremely impressive, the writing is seamless, the characters believably complex, and the story is more exciting than most of the mysteries I have read recently; SCORING POSITION is a perfect game topped off by a grand slam by the home team in the ninth inning: fantastic!
