Once upon a time there was a very bad boy . . .
Ethan Jagger will do anything to leave his criminal past behind and take his place as a gentleman in Polite Society. Worst of all, though, is the dangerous attraction that sparks between them. If he can escape the hangman's noose and start anew, will she consent to love a scoundrel ever after?

Who met a very nice girl . . .
London only thinks of Audrey Cheswick as a wallflower-if they even think of her at all. She's tried to find satisfaction-if not happiness-as a spinster-in-waiting, though her intrepid spirit yearns for a grand adventure. But when she runs away with England's most wanted criminal, she learns adventure comes with a price-not just her reputation or her virtue, but her heart.

Let me start off by saying that I haven't read any other books in this series. Ethan is a bad boy in every sense of the word, but then he was brought up in the streets of St. Giles.he was turned away by his half-brother when his mother died. He has had to steal and kill his way to the top of the food chain so to speak. He wants out though he's tired of the things he has to do to stay where he is. His brother finally recognizes him as his brother and makes amends for turning him away all those years ago. Ethan meet Audrey by climbing in her window one night to get away from the Bow Street runners and sends them she has taught him to dance like a gentleman so he can interact with the time and not look like an idiot. Audrey on the other hand wants adventure and has taken to dressing like a young man in order to do so. She has even been to a vice party given by Ethan's half-brother. Ethan and Audrey start their great adventure by running away from Gin Jimmy and the Bow Street runners, everything is not perfect they fight and argue the whole time. They end up at an orphanage run by Fox and Miranda, they both can see themselves living there that is until the Bow Street runners finally catch up with them. Audrey is kidnapped by Gin Jimmy in order to bring Ethan into the fold. Ethan sacrifices himself to get her back but his brother and friends have other ideas. At the end of the book there is a happy ending. After reading this book I am going to see if I can get the first books in the series.

I love Ms. contemporary stories because they speak to the heart. I didn't know a great deal about her historical romances until recently. Have read about 4 - 5 and like ever reader have liked a few and disliked some. Scoundrel Ever After falls into the LOVE category. A bad boy trying to make good and a damsel in distress searching for adventure. What's not to like. Ethan is a good person who made some desperate choices that cost him in the past. Trouble seems to find him wherever he goes. Audrey is the girl with a wandering heart but due to a life of structure has never followed through on that longing. Romances like these appeal to me because the central characters are so much more than they are presented to be. They see themselves one way but a fresh pair of eyes, a shock to the heart and finding the right person gives the courage to take a chance. With Scoundrel Ever After, I liked the mystery, loved the characters and followed the adventures of these misplaced spirits. Something different, that was for me just right. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ethan Jagger, err Ethan Locke, is a man of many personas. Is he a criminal genius or a charming gentleman? Can society accept both? Audrey Cheswick is lives up to her wallflower status, always standing in the background at social events and happy to do so. Shy and not outspoken, she’s the voice of reason within her circle of friends. In her heart, she yearns for adventure and a life less ordinary. After his latest brush with the law, Ethan is on the run. While trying to gather some of his secreted funds to finance his escape, he foils a kidnapping attempt of Audrey, who was to be used as leverage against him, and together they flee from London. Emotions run high, danger faces them at each turn, and together they discover their real passions. As the final installment to the Secrets & Scandals Series, this was an incredible read and a satisfying conclusion to the series. Ethan is very much the bad boy, from a broken past, with a heart of gold. All he needs is a good woman to show him that he deserves love and kindness. The story is fast paced, full of adventure, and heart stopping drama. I loved every moment. It only saddened me to say goodbye to this ragtag group of friends.

Ethan is my favorite character. I think having him in three books really made him fascinating because he changed a little in every book. I had a clear picture of him in my mind with everything he did. I loved how he didn't really know why he was so willing to take Audrey with him and protect her no matter what. He slowly began to trust people as time went on and when you find out all the people he has affected in a good way and that he didn't realize people cared about him, your heart pulls for him. Audrey is a mystery herself. Just when you think you know everything about her, something shocking comes to light. I couldn't figure out why she was dressed like she was when they first left London and loved when it was told why. I loved that she saw him for his true self and they were the perfect match for each other. And you have to love a girl that can shoot. I was glad to see the characters from all the books. I loved that they can together to help him and forgive him for the past. I even liked Jason in this book because he realized that Ethan had a much harder life than he did. The ending was perfect, but I didn't want it to end.

A Myrt's Review Scoundrel Ever After by Darcy Burke A Sweet Regency Romance (This is the 6th and final book in the series Secrets and Scoundrels.) Nice Society girl, Audrey, looking for adventure meets bad boy, Ethan, f/k/a Jagger, running from his delinquent past in this Regency era love story.  The mismatched couple end up on the run from Jagger's enemies.  As part of the series, many of the characters, including Ethan, have been featured in the previous books although I enjoyed the book as standalone.  Ethan is trying to take his rightful place in Polite Society but his past has other plans.  Audrey believes in Ethan and is determined to help him even if it means getting in his way once in awhile. There is a charming subplot when Audrey and Ethan run into an orphanage in the country.  Audrey and Ethan make a cute couple who manage to have fun together in the midst of the ensuing drama. It's a sweet story with colorful characters in a fast paced storyline. A good read for any Regency romance lover! I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

A Wallflower banishes her many loaded guns for her passionate happily ever after Scoundrel! Ethan Jagged Locke Lockwood has too many names & a criminal past that he can't outrun. He is the illegitimate son of a Viscount, scarred his half brother's face, tried to past himself off as "Mr. Ethan Locke" to the ton, learned to dance via the sexy Audrey with her luscious chocolate corkscrew hair, wanted for 2 murders he didn't do, running for his life & all because he was trying to end his life of crime by getting London's underworld boss arrested. Ethan thought, if he brought Gin Jimmy to justice, he could really have a really life for once. He been stabbed & shot, dodging Bow Street Runners & Gin Jimmy's goons, but he runs to the closest stash of money, which happens to bring him to the tree outside Audrey's window. Audrey Cheswick as always blended into the walls & became a Wallflower because she believes she is plain, too tall & has totally possessed hair. She is an unwanted daughter, lives with her Grandfather & has only a few friends, who all are married now. Her only excitement has been when she was around the mysterious Mr. Ethan Locke & teaching him in secret to waltz. Late 1 night, 2 oversized smelly men break into her Grandfather's home & as she tries to get help via her window, she see the yummy Ethan climbing the tree & begs his help to deal with the dastardly goons. Ethan is shocked that Audrey is wearing britches, armed with a loaded gun & actually doesn't hesitate to shot a smelly goon, but realizes that Gin Jimmy wants to kidnap her to get to him. Audrey is looking forward to an adventure fleeing with Ethan, but why is everyone calling him Jagger? Thus begin the many MISadventures that take place for these 2 with shots fired, stealing many horses, sleeping together as man & wife, dodging Bow Street Runners, unthinking Gin Jimmy's posse, but it's Wallflower Audrey who saves the day with her scandalous pockets full of money after Ethan is shot again & passed out. Ethan is floored by this fiery hellion who always has a backup plan, but he is a criminal & not worthy of her. Everything between them changes after they share a scandalous waltz & PANTIE MELTING kisses. When she learns of his past, she still is all in, because he makes her feel like a true woman, but he keeps pushing her away. Passions are finally unlocked & she knocks his stockings & boots off. These 2 need some serious help & get it from UNEXPECTED places, like people that Ethan used in his criminal past, his brother, Jason, new friends, an orphanage & many old enemies turned allies. Can Ethan & Audrey's fragile love save 1 another? If Ethan never trusts her, how can she truly light his dark world? How will the feisty Audrey save the man of her heart? Will Gin Jimmy be brought down? How many unloaded guns will Audrey wield for her man? This is the last book in Ms. Burke's Secrets & Scandals series & she brings back almost all of the gang & ends it with a EXPLOSION! I absolutely loved this series & was lucky enough that my library order books 1-5 for me & I have to say, "My library ROCKS my book COSMOS!" My favorite kind of heroine is a Wallflower because they EARN their inner strength with all their unsuccessful Seasons & those snobby ton Ladies. Audrey was a true Wallflower, but had the heart of a true adventuress. Ethan had a unfair life, but it made him the tendered heart true gentleman, that he never believed he was. Ms. Burke bring intrigue, mystery, hilarious mayhem & seemly impossible & hopeless straits, but like her craft & super smart heroine, she always has a great Plan B, C & if needed Plan Z. She also brought back all her hero's & heroines from the all the others books, but it wasn't forced & worked seamlessly into the story. Ms. Burke also had my 2 favorite dudes, North & Scot, to help with their mysterious past. I hope 1 day that Ms. Burke writes Scot's story with his shadowy criminal past. I love that Audrey & Ethan had those UNEXPECTED up against the wall moments because Ethan was so open with himself. I give Ms. Burke my top score of 5 fingers up & 10 toes for this kinda sad Secrets & Scandals ending. Again Ms. Burke PRETTY PLEASE write Scot's story! NetGalley ARC given for my honest review.

We got to know a little about Ethan Locke (aka Jagger) in book 5, Never Love a Scoundrel, and when we last saw him he was running from the police for a murder he didn't commit. On his way out of town, he accidentally drags Audrey Cheswick into the mess; the lovely young girl who had been giving him secret dance lessons. Neither one of them is exactly what they appear to be which makes them quite perfect for each other. While Ethan has been trying hard to become a gentleman in Society, underneath he is also still a scoundrel and criminal. Audrey may be known as a wallflower not likely to marry, but she secretly craves excitement and adventure and anything other than the life she currently lives. On their journey away from London, they start to learn the depths of each other, but they both still hold a piece of themselves back. Can they learn to trust one another completely? As they travel together, you see them struggle to open up and trust. Especially Ethan. He so badly wants to turn his life around, but doubts that he can or that he deserves it. Audrey brings him the optimism and encouragement that he doesn't have in himself. She believes in him and in them and gives him the glimmer of hope that he so desperately needs. This adventure while being slightly terrifying at times, has been the best days of Audrey's life. Her boring life is far behind in London and she would have no problem to just keep going. But Ethan has too many people after him and eventually he'll have to face the music. The question is if he survives all of this, will Audrey still want to be with them? What kind of life can a scoundrel offer her? I could not wait for this book and the conclusion to the Secrets & Scandals series and author Darcy Burke did not disappoint. I truly enjoyed Ethan and Audrey's story from start to finish. I felt like this series just kept getting better with each book and this might have been my favorite of the six. There is something so delicious about a bad boy, no matter what era he is from, and Ethan was definitely delicious. I was sad to see this series come to an end and say goodbye to all of the characters that I love, but it was nice to see them all make brief appearances in the end. Darcy Burke will always be one of my favorite historical romance authors and I can't wait for the launch of her next series, Regency Treasure Hunters, launching summer 2014.

A wonderful historical romance and conclusion to a lovely series, Scoundrel Ever After was a fantastic read. I loved this book. It was romantic, thrilling, and enjoyable. From start to finish, it was just great. Audrey was a wonderful heroine. At first glance, she seems like a meek wallflower, but only at first glance. This lady was tough as nails and proved it several times over. When she was determined about something, nothing was going to stop her and she was very loyal to those she cared about. I really liked her. Ethan was also great. For those who read the series, you know that he appears in the previous books, as both friend and foe. But, in this book, he gets his redemption. He seems a hardened criminal on the outside, but, chip away a few layers, and he was just a man that, after being forced into years of thievery, wanted a peaceful life with his brother and the woman he loved. Though, fate seemed determined to give him a hard time about it. He was very sweet, when he wanted to be, and loyal to those he cared about. I thought he was wonderful. The romance was lovely. Audrey and Ethan were very sweet together. Though they seem an odd match on the surface, they were perfect for each other. The attraction between them was constantly sizzling and it definitely got hot.  The plot was fast paced and I was hooked the entire way through. There were tons of twists, turns, and thrills that kept me on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed the story and the ending was lovely. Scoundrel Ever After was a fantastic historical romance. I really loved this book. It was thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. Romance lovers, this is a book you'll want to check out. *I received a free copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

Scoundrel ever after. I really enjoyed this book, Ethan was trying to make make something of his life, and Audrey wanted something, anything to happen. Ethan Jagger want's to leave his criminal pasts behind him, which is easier said than done. He has been framed for murder by his boss because of his lapse in loyalty to him and the Bow Street Runners are also after him. As he flees he gets attached to Audrey Cheswick, a young women who is being attacked herself by the same criminals who wan't him dead.  So the story begins. Ethan try's very hard to mend his ways and clear his name but he has many secrets, and it's hard to change. Audrey is a spinster waiting for an adventure to happen and then Ethen appeared.  She is a very vivacious character, loyal and strong, she has secrets too. I liked her very much for her tenacity. Love conquerors all and after much nail biting the story comes to a satisfying conclusion. The story has many characters from the Secrets and Scandals series which I will have to read as I enjoyed this title so much. I received a free copy of this title from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
