This is one of the best books I've read in years. Cobb's characters are both realistic and entertaining, and his scenarios are believable and well-researched. You learn a lot. He also knows how to make you laugh, and will have you on the edge of your techno-military seat every third chapter. Best of all: he's not the over-the-top NRA-hardass Clancy is. What a relief!

James H. Cobb's 'Choosers of the Slain' and 'Sea Strike' are two excelent stories about the Navy Destroyer USS Cunningham, which is a new class of destroyer with stealth charactoristics. 'Sea Strike' puts Commander Amanda Garrett and the crew of the Cunningham in the middle of a Chinese civil war that could lead to an exchange of nuclear weapons.
