Reviewed by Jack Magnus for Readers' Favorite SEALs: Naval Special Warfare in Action is a nonfiction military work written by S.F. Tomajczyk. While the author is not himself a SEAL, his father was a Naval officer, and Tomajczyk had the opportunity, as he grew up, to watch Navy SEALs in action. This book has been published as part of the United We Stand Series. Tomajczyk introduces the reader to the world of the SEALs; one that demands the ultimate in training, perseverance and stamina, and he eloquently describes how many aspirants fail to make it through the harsh and demanding training, especially Hell Week, a grueling 5-day ordeal. SEALs: Naval Special Warfare in Action is filled with photographs showing SEALs as they train to operate in the water, on land, and in various different environments around the world. S.F. Tomajczyk’s inspirational nonfiction military work, SEALs: Naval Special Warfare in Action, pulls no punches in detailing the incredible self-discipline and stamina required to join the ranks of the SEALs. I’m an outdoor swimmer and have watched videos of SEAL swimming classes in order to improve my own techniques. So, this book had a special appeal for me. I especially enjoyed the photographs showing the SEALs working underwater, disembarking from water crafts and landing on submarines. I was even more impressed by what I hadn’t known about the SEALs and their operations on land, and by the sheer difficulties confronted by anyone attempting to become one. This book shows men going past endurance and finding a steel core underneath, and it shows them functioning in harsh and unforgiving environments, including lengthy stays in icy water. SEALs: Naval Special Warfare in Action is the perfect book to give a young man who may be considering military service, and it’s marvelous for anyone else who’s wondered about the Navy SEALs and the service they give to our nation.
