About the Author

Jessica had never considered writing as a career until a former manager kept telling her that her business reports read more like stories and she should write a book. She loved writing but had no plot ideas. Then something happened to her that prompted the premise for her debut novel, Searching for Steven. She put fingers to keyboard and soon realised she had a trilogy. The trilogy will be published by So Vain Books. The first book in the series was launched in June 2015. She's a founder member of The Write Romantics.

The first in Jessica Redland’s Whitsborough Bay series starts with a fortune teller and a florist, and he twists and fun just amp up from there. Sarah is offered her aunt’s flower shop, and is heading toward a new life – and, as expected she is excited. But new places, new opportunities and one old piece of information. An old reading from years ago resurfaces, and Sarah realizes that every single prediction on the list has come true. But one. She’s going to meet the man of her dreams… and his name is Steven. From few to no Stevens, soon they are coming out of the woodwork…or cleaning the windows. With the need to find her Steven, two best friends who hate each other on the best days, and plenty of friends, new experiences and more than a few laughs. A perfect sweet treat with a cup of tea, Redland’s writing makes readers smile: everyone has a friend like Sarah (or should) and wants to find the joy in a new moment. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

4.5 STARS Searching for Steven is another enjoyable, refreshing read by Jessica Redland. She is rapidly becoming one of my favorite chick lit writers. Sarah has just recently broken up with the man she thought she would spend the rest of her life with, and she returns home for some rest and time to heal. She is just anticipating a quick visit. What she gets is much more...her aunt is giving her her prized florist business. She accepts not knowing how very much her life is going to change. What I LOVED about this book wasn’t just the romance, but I was so glad to see Sarah rediscover who she was. And, she might just find her HEA in the process where she least suspects it. She just has to have an open mind and not get caught up in what the psychic predicted about her soulmate being named Steven. I just loved Nick from the very beginning. I knew he held the key to Sarah’s heart even if it took her awhile to realize it. I just love Redland’s way of writing. She has a way of putting me right in the story as if I were a character myself watching the story unfold right before my eyes. I am anxiously awaiting her next book.

Favorite Quote: All that stuff today was just the icing on the cake; it’s all very nice but the cake is the best part and I already have the cake. My Review: I have gotten around to all the Whitsborough Bay stories and oddly enough have read the first one last, but it really didn’t matter, they could all stand on their own with independent and strong storylines. I have enjoyed this series with its quirky cast of characters and their amusing encounters and unique considerations. I hope there will be more as I enjoy Ms. Redland’s clever humor and engaging writing style. Her levity balances and tempers the angst and heart-squeezes. I adored the characters of Auntie Kay as well as Nick and Sarah and found Sarah’s attempts to locate her fated Steven to be pleasantly entertaining. The premise was original and interesting while the writing was fun and humorous yet also thoughtfully observant and insightful. And as always, Ms. Redland has provided me with new Brit vocabulary words, this time I have gleaned swot (studious), and pernickety (UK version of persnickety).
