I saw this book at a hotel gift shop in Sedona. I ordered it when I go home. Lovely photos of places I has been to visit. I have not made many dishes from this area. The recipes are different and interesting. The ones I have already made were well received. I would recommend this to anyone who likes beauty and food.

The only problem with giving Barbara Pool Frenzl's glorious Southwest cookbook as a gift is to a friend is normal conversation ceases and exclamations of how great the book are rise above any other topic. 'This is the most beautiful cookbook I have ever seen!' one friend speaks. 'Can you believe the photographs?' another companion exclaims. SEASONAL SOUTHWEST COOKING should be in the running for the Cookbook of the Year. The more than 150 recipes are fantastic and have readers at a near drooling point. The sidebar information on chiles, different types of corn in the Southwest, and the significance to Native Americans of the varied colors of corn along with other factual information make this prize volume very nearly a complete travel book as well as a cookbook The photography is simply incredible, both of the food itself at the perfection point for feasting along with accompanying landscape photography of the magnificent beauty of the Southwest. Rarely does a cookbook offer so much. The author not only explains every procedure the budding chef needs to know, she even provides information on how and where to puchase one's own chile pepper roaster, for example. Not even the simplist detail is left to chance. Every detail for every recipe is explicit and easily understood. This is a cookbook of such majestic superiority that it not only makes the reader yearn for Southwest food, it is awe- inspiring to view. It manages to tease, soothe, and massage every sense except perhaps sound. Even that can be managed with an appropriately Southwestern CD, not to mention the flood of words such as 'thank you' and 'gracias' that the chef will be certain to hear. This is a cookbook that is so special and so unique that it is a bargain at ANY price and for a cookbook of its magnitude and beauty, its price is extremely reasonable. Despite the shift in conversation from politics, the weather, and local gossip, THIS is THE book to give to a wonderful host or hostess, friend, or loved one. It is a brilliant catalog of one incredible recipe followed by more and more. Jerry Flack, Denver, CO
