this was a great book. I read it when it first came out in the 80's, and then again- April '02. I would like to know what others thought about the ending. It's a great plot, but left me wondering, which I'm sure was what Irving had in mind.

This is a great "what if" story - makes you wonder just how far something like this could go - and how far-reaching the consequences might be. I love the way Wallace handled characters and the human interactions behind larger plots.

Love this book. I first read it approximately 15 years ago. I brought it again and still love it. I am just waiting for the movie or at least a Part II to include a definitive ending instead of the cliffhanger readers are left with in this book..

Book starts with an intriguing concept. The curiousity to see what happens next keeps you reading to the end. Becomes fast paced and exciting as you get deeper into the book particularly the last quarter of the book. The plot however becomes unrealistic bordering on silly at times. The dialogue between the charectors also becomes hoakey at times. Without divulging the end, I'll say I was disappointed how everything was wrapped up to conclusion.

It had been ages since I read anything by Irving Wallace, so I decided to check this one out. It is an unimaginable story that keeps you wanting to keep reading. I'm still thinking about the ending.

From the moment the title caught my attention, I could not put this book down. What a fantastic storyline that kept me guessing with much anticipation for the climax. I only regret being left hanging at the end. Notwithstanding, I think the remaining first lady was indeed the real Billie!

Once I got into this book, I couldn't put it down. It's a bit improbable; I think that doubles exist only in fiction. And wouldn't a husband know his own wife? (Then, again, some men aren't too perceptive). What a great movie this would be. Of course, they'd no doubt change the ending.

I read this book awhile back & loved it. It's one of my all time favorites. Loaned it to someone & never got it back. Was delighted to see it as an ebook. Now I have it again. It would make a wonderful movie. Such an interesting storyline.

I enjoyed this book from the first page to the last. It was well writen and suspensful. I had never read this book before, even though I have really enjoyed some of Irving Wallace's other work. The Man comes to mind as a terrific book.

This is a fantastic read and keeps your interest. It truly gives the reader a chance to be on the inside of an international "incident."
