This book was much different than I had expected, but that's not a bad thing. I thought it was going to be a typical middle grade book about a group of friends, their squabbles, their shortcomings, and their interests. And in some ways, it was. But a little way into the book, a mystery starts. I really enjoyed the mystery and the way the girls work together to solve the problems they run into. The characters could have been better. I felt like they were very typical, cookie cutter girls that didn't really have anything to set them apart or make them interesting. However, the book was well written and very entertaining. This would be a good book for girls that enjoy mysteries and animals. I'll be looking for the next book in the series! Content: clean
