(This review is based on ARC e-book provided by publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.) Secret Blend was an enjoyable young lawyer romance featuring a beautiful, feisty, public defender heroine, Rachel, and an equally career minded prosecutor hero, Brady. After vying for the same judgeship in their hometown, they find themselves sharing the same office quarters. Having known each other for years, but not romantically, repressed feelings begin to blossom into a meaningful relationship they try to keep private. With quick witted banter between the main couple and a likeable cast of supporting characters, the storyline seemed to flow well throughout most of the book. My exceptions would be Hannah’s over-the-top behavior/actions after finding out about the relationship. It seemed more applicable to a middle school student than a well educated lawyer, who would realize there could easily be legal ramifications for such slanderous conduct. The Jed Clampett-like character that appeared in the courtroom near the end of the story added too much of a hillbilly flair for my taste. Though I liked the surprise twist to the plot it initiated, realistically I do not think anyone talks like that anymore. Overall, I do recommend Secret Blend, Book #1 of the Bourbon Springs series. Filtered Through Blue (Book #2 – pub. date 6/14/15) and Angel’s Share (Book #3 – pub. date 7/14/15) will be the next in this nine book series.

This legal thriller was intriguing. There is love but is a bit risque so I skipped parts.

Well written and the characters were interesting. Not over the top with sex but enough to keep the story flowing. I've already bought the next book in the series.

Rachel Richards and Brady Craft have known one another since high school. They went to the same law school, clerked for the same judge and eventually found themselves back in Bourbon Springs working as lawyers but with one on defense and one prosecuting. For many years Rachel has had her eye on Brady BUT he is so standoffish, condescending and rude that any interest she may have had dissipates. Suddenly things change when Rachel is appointed judge and Brady begins to see her differently. Whether or not the two of them can move from antagonists to friends, find common ground to allow them more then weather the various issues they face is the basis of this story. This was a very good debut novel. I read book five in the series before reading the first and enjoyed both and both are easily read without having to read one before the other to have them make sense. I believe that Ms Bramseth has grown as an author between her debut novel and her fifth in the series. I enjoyed the legal aspects of the story and felt her background was wisely used throughout the story. Thank you to the author for the copy of this book to read and review. 3.5 Stars

WOW! What a great first book (in a series) for a new author!!! Rachel and Brady grew on me as the story went along. They encountered and weathered many situations together, but as the saying goes "it makes you stronger". Jennifer set the stage for some of the characters in upcoming books. I'm eagerly awaiting for the next book!!!

I enjoyed Secret Blend and would recommend it.  I enjoyed learning a little about Kentucky and the importance of bourbon brewing on a region.  It was interesting to learn about the work relationships in a courthouse.  Rachel and Brady's story while sexy was about a love they shared.  It wasn't just sex for the sake of throwing it into a story.  I look forward to reading more about them and the other characters.

Gifted copy for honest review. I enjoyed reading Secret Blend. This story is about Rachel and Brady, two young lawyers who want the same thing. They have known each other for years but never connected. A quick and enjoyable read. I would recommend this one.
