Oh my gosh, I love this book. I have always worried about my weight but this book helped me to view myself in a whole new way. I read this and things just seem to fall in to place. For anyone that is body concious, you need to read this book!!! Every teen girl should also read this.

Lots of great info. Also very humorous. You will definitely relate to the things the author has gone through (or even done some of the same things yourself). It was just the inspiration and motivation I needed.

I have read this book several times and I find it helpful, inspirational, and worthwhile each time. Lisa has lived life as a “fat girl” and understands what it is like to hid behind your weight or clothes. She gives you simple suggestions that you can do to get you through one day at a time. And day after day, pound after pound, inch after inch, you begin to see everything differently. I have bought copies of the book and secretly left it for individual who I feel are open to making a change in their life. I feel the critics who are overweight are just not in right place to start their journeys. Though, they may never get there, it is not the fault of the book. Each person has to take that first step in their own time. The road to losing weight and living healthier/happier is slow journey made up of small victories. My suggestion is to read the whole book all the way through. If it helps, congrats! If it doesn’t, give it to someone else who might be able to hear the message

This is my kind of diet book - no complicated menus, no detailed exercise plans - just commonsense principles to making lifestyle changes that lead to a healthier and thinner body. Ms. Delaney recognizes that different styles work for different people, but the most important thing is to change how you feel about yourself and what you can accomplish. Very readable style and left me with a lot of hope that I could make the kind of changes I want to with regard to my health.

I picked up this book because of the first sentence "You don't know me but you probably hate me." I approached this book like I did many other memoir type books whether it's about weight loss or pregnancy. I expected to be entertained and that was it... What I didn't expect was to see parts of me in this book *the whiner specifically*... I expected to be entertained and instead I was inspired-I have begun steps to become a "Former Fat Girl."The book read as if the author was talking to me (which is my favorite kind!).

This book has some great tips for those struggling to lose weight. It is well written and very relatable if you're a current fat girl. Author adds in end humor and many personal experiences that help you connect and feel like you too could become a former fat girl.

This book was very informative. It was not your average diet book with dieting tips, this book had the key secrets to getting to a healthy state and being comfortable in your own mind. the tips that Delany offers in this book can not only apply to weight loss, but also to general things in life. Her book is more about a mental journey than just focusing on the physical journey, and all the things you can't do when trying to get in shape. This book was an easy read. At some points, when Delany explains her life it became slightly tedious, but at the same time it helps the reader understand how she came up with the specific tips to becoming a former fat girl. I would highly recommend this book to anyone trying to make a legitimate life change, mentally and physically.
