Secrets of a Viscount by Rose Gordon Gentlemen of Honor Series Book 1 Isabelle Knight makes a choice one night that changes her life. When the neighbor comes to her balcony to elope, she pretends to be her sister, the one he came for. When he discovers the truth...after the fact...things go bad quickly. Sebastian Gentry, Viscount Belgrave is too good hearted, that's why he takes the neighbor to Gretna Green in the middle of the night to help her escape a terrible fate. Only it's the wrong sister. He could have tolerated Rachel, but never Belle. So he leaves the country and his wife behind. Time passes and wounds heal, but not for long. Sebastian has a secret and it's time to come back and tell Belle about it. I really enjoyed this story and some of the secondary characters as well. Giles Goddard is a bit odd, but endearing. A man of few words. I'm looking forward to the next two books in this series; Desires of a Baron and Passions of a Gentleman. **Sexual content within marriage

I finished this book rather quickly since I couldn't wait to see what happened next. A fun, enjoyable romance with a nice amount of sizzle.

Beginning was too “juvenile.” In fact, the story didn’t improve much and the characters were still immature. 2 star because I read it to the end rather than quitting after the second or third chapter.

Okay reading on a dreary day, but I found myself a little irritated by the number of unexplained things the reader has to accept. For example, Simon's hot/cold reactions to Belle. The author suggests he is so distracted to find he has a (supposedly half) brother that he is unable to respond to Belle's flirtations? There are other things, but I try not to reveal plot details in reviews. I'd kind of like to know what happens to some of the characters, but probably not enough to purchase other books if there are sequels.

The story seems confusing in the beginning but eventually sorts out to be very interesting. Hard to keep the players straight without a scorecard though.

Unfortunately, both characters were so annoying, I couldn't even make it to the honeymoon

Excellent story! Great Author! Always enjoy Rose Gordon's books. The only issue I had with this book is the book format was not good. No chapter headings and page numbers in the content. This is clearly B & N issue and not the writers. B&N needs to proof their books before uploading to the web for sale.

Could not put down!

Although the conflict between the characters was good, the rest of the story was boring, have more of the background early on would have made more sense.

Another wonderful book by Rose Gordon. Who could not fall in love with Sebastian Gentry, Lord Belgrave? He and Rachel Knight (or is it Isabelle Knight) are eloping to Gretna Green, and things don't quite go according to plan. You really have to read the book to find out the rest. Just let me say, it will be worth it. This book is filled with so much emotion, some tragedy, and the characters are so wonderful you will fall in love. Again, I highly recommend reading Secrets of a Viscount by Rose Gordon, and I know you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

Well I have read many books you have wrote and I think most young adults will fall in love with these stories which are wonferful. So yes if you plan on buying please do so. I love regency romance and being much older I love more the rakes and their tales. But this is very refreshing and I enjoy it as well. Happy reading. Ms. D from Bronx, NY

Great Read with Great Characters! Isabelle (Belle) is a second daughter with no prospects so when her neighbor, Sebastian (Lord Belgrave) sneaks into her room asking is she ready to leave. She doesn’t think twice and sneaks out the window into the night to marry the handsome young man she has always liked. So what if he thinks it’s her older sister, Rachel sneaking off to elope. When Sebastian realizes the woman he married is not Rachel, but her annoying younger sister, Belle, he isn’t exactly happy and begins the process to have the marriage annulled. After a bad accident Bell is left alone with a tarnished reputation. Five years has past, and Sebastian has been abroad and Belle has been a lady’s companion looking for a husband. Oh, yeah, you read the correctly she is looking for a husband because she thinks she is not married. But when Sebastian shows up after five years and offers his help to find her husband she may find that the husband she wants is the one in front of her. Oh, yes, you read that correctly he comes back to find her a husband. I’ve read quite a few books from Ms. Gordan, and one thing I find she excels in is having a great cast of characters in her stories. I always find them as intriguing as the hero and heroine. She does not disappoint. Giles and Simon are wonderful secondary characters and are great scene stealers. I hope they have their own stories. Welcome back to Regency, Ms. Gordon! I look forward to more books in this series.

Oh my Goodness where do I start with this one? First of all if you enjoy a good laugh with your historical romance you really need to try a Rose Gordon story. She has a talent of not only completely getting you engrossed in the storyline but also making you laugh out loud while you read.  Secrets of a Viscount starts out with a misunderstanding that totally gets blown away with the shock of what has happened between Sebastian Gentry and  Isabelle Knight. When  Sebastian finds out he didn't marry who he thinks he married he flies of the handle just a little bit. These two end up going their separate ways for many years and when they meet up again we learn more of the back story. Sebastian has a secret that Isabelle doesn't know. He also wants what is best for her so he sets out to help her find a husband. Oh my goodness does this lead to a few tense scenes as well as plenty of drama, and comical scenes.  As these two find people get to know each other better and slowly more secrets are revealed they learn more about each other. I loved watching these two get to know each other better and I enjoy getting to know them as well.  Rose Gordon has a way of creating such fun and unique characters that I just can't help but love reading their stories. She has once again great another series that I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of. If Secrets of a Viscount  is any indication, I can not wait to read the next book in the series.  There is plenty of drama, laughter and towards the end a few steamy scenes that were plenty to keep my attention the whole way through the book.  If you enjoy historical romances with some drama, laughter and a bit of steam then I think you will enjoy this book. I can't wait to see what Ms. Gordon comes up with for us next.  I was given the opportunity to read this great story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Secrets of a Viscount.

Sebastian and Isabelle have known each other most of their lives and their unfortunate trip to Gretna Green throws both their lives into chaos. Sebastian goes on a five year Grand Tour to the continent and Isabelle is banished to the country as a companion. He carries incredible guilt for his treatment of Belle and she feels betrayed and abandoned by him and her family.  When they come face to face again their feelings are all over the place. The attraction is there, but the guilt and mistrust get in the way. Sebastian tries to help Belle, only to mess things up. Belle fails when she attempts to use his advice. The surprises that crop up along the way kept me turning pages well into the night. As usual, Rose Gordon’s characters have humor, quirkiness, feistiness, fun and engender loyalty. We have met the characters for the rest of the series and want them to find their happily ever after. Rose Gordon continues to be one of my top 5 authors.

I've enjoyed reading this author's regency books. However, this story was not one of her better tales, in my opinion. I had to force my attention throughout the repetitive parts of the misunderstandings and angst of the main characters. I think the author could have really added to the plot by not skimming over the time the couple were apart. She hinted that a lot of interesting stuff happened. Also, I found her writing style was choppy and abrupt, the prose just didn't flow well. I get the impression that this book (like several others I've read recently) was released without the benefit of being edited, not even for grammar and spelling. I was intrigued by Giles and will probably continue the series just to see what happens with him.
