Overview

Seducing the Bride by Michelle McMaster

Lord Beckett Thornby is in need of a wife. In order to claim his inheritance, the confirmed bachelor must marry. Yet the last place he expects to find a bride is in the backstreets of London in a rubbish heap.

Isobel Hampton is running from a painful past... and a dangerous man who will stop at nothing until he finds her. A marriage of convenience with a sinfully handsome lord seems like the perfect solution, until Isobel realizes her husband wants much more from her than she is willing to give.

Soon, the marriage that was supposed to be "all business" turns into a dangerous dance of seduction that could leave one or both of them with a broken heart.

This is a good story with interesting twists. Isobel is rescued while on the run from the evil Sir Harry by Bennett. His previous fiancee having thrown him over due to the lack of fortune Bennett refuses to believe love exisits. Events suddenly elevate his rank and fortune, but only if he is married. Not knowing the full story of Isobel's flight or her rank he proposes marriage with emotions put aside. While I found the writing somewhat too much with many similes and metaphors it was still enjoyable. Somewhere around page 100 the writing descended into melodrama. I skimmed the rest simply to come to the end. At times Isobel was a bold, unafraid woman, but quickly changed to one who wrung her hands bemoaning her circumstances.

McMaster brings her characters to life. You can sea the turquoise sea and feel the sand between your toes. She succeeds at drawing the reader in and you can't let go until the end. Next book in the series, please.

I really enjoyed this book. I couldn't put it down. I would recommend it for a quick light read. I will consider reading another by this author.

That should have been the title because he keeps running away after kissing her passionately. The story drags on and on. This is a boring book.

Some issues with the writing and editing. The story was ok although very predictable. Some parts were a little slow. Characters were pretty well done.

Fun read. Entertaining. While it wasn't exactly surprising, it still had a good bit of humor and whit. I enjoyed it and would read it again.

The storyline captured my attention from beginning to end. Beckett and his friend, Alfred were funny and entertaining. When they found Isobel, thus began an adventure for both Beckett and Isobel that take them from London to Barbados. The story includes a villain and even pirates. What an entertaining read not your typical London, Soiree type of story. Beckett was Great and so was Isobel. Even the cat, Captain Black was wonderful. Now it's time for Alfred's story. HEA, HAPPY READING! ******* vrnb******

Full of trite dialog : "Gadzooks but she was beautiful" . "Beckett, you have made me the happiest woman in the world!" and with a predictable story line, this one was worth what I paid for it...

I don't know why so many authors feel it necessary to repeat characters self talk several times. It makes the story slow and boring in places. Otherwise it was a fun and entertaining read.
